I get cat pass from Citra sometimes. This years crop of leaf from HopsDirect smelled strongly of it to me. In fact, my wife drew a cat on the bag and labeled it "cat piss" when we were breaking it into smaller portions.

It also came through in the brewed beer. Thankfully, I love it. I also wanted to get my hands on some Summit this year to see if I could get some of that infamous onion/garlic character.

I used a 3mL hopshot purchased from Yakima valley... i put 1ml in at a time and stirred like crazy for 45 seconds... repeat x2. I had no issue with cleanup or undissolved goo.

I liked the result, I plan to do it again soon

All this talk of citra has me wanting to add some to the beer. I think a couple ounces dry hop will suffice. Cheers guys.

I've always found that hop shots tend to fade rather quickly...they bitter well initially but it falls off in a couple/3 weeks for me and it becomes a boring nondescript bitterness that's less detectable. I stopped using them years ago and went back to Columbus and Chinook as my main bittering hops and have been much more satisfied with my beers ever since...I mean 1 oz Columbus at 60 gives as much IBUs as 5-6 ml of hopshot, so you're saving money and getting the real product instead of some processed hop substitute.

I have had mixed experience with Comet and find it similar to Citra in a single hop IPA, but it doesn't retain those qualities when mixed with other hops.

I also get A LOT of fresh ripe green pepper with Eukanot/Equinox...for better or worse.

I have a pound of comet unfortunately as it was so cheap I couldn't resist. So I'm gonna throw 2 oz in dry hop to see if it plays nice. I will definitely report back. Gotta kill some of my current kegs before I can brew again... anyone wanna come over and drink some free beer.

Unfortunately?! How much did you pay per pound? Comet is one of my favorite hops.

Also, I'm in the same boat. Too much beer, too few drinkers.

Brew up a single hop Comet beer while you've got plenty...I don't think you'll be disappointed even if you feel it isn't as near to Citra as it could be. I'm a fan of single hop beers to first understand how to use any hop you are unfamiliar with. I'm up to about 40-50 single hop beers over the years and find it to be the best way I've experienced to truly learn how to use them to my liking later.

Ya maybe I will do that with a simple pilsner Vienna grain bill. I paid 5 dollars for the pound. I ordered 8oz for 5 dollars and there was a note saying to enjoy the free 8oz from yakima valley hops.

@Prep8611 if I lived closer, I'd be over.

@DrMindbender i couldn't agree more. Columbus and chinook are my go to bittering IPA hops a lot of the time. Cascade when I'm making session pales. Tryed hop shots but never caught the fever.

Yep. Those are my two go-to bittering hops as well.

I rely heavily on columbus and chinook throughout my entire process. Dryhopped beers with the combo rock my world.
