Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2017

For sure crossing 35W & 94 E would be horrific, I want that 4pk or 1 BCS vintage bottles.

 

Still a few 6ers of Lagunitas Willettized at Village Liquor in North Hudson

 

7 or so bottles of bourbon paradise at Lexington liquors

 

Was at Casanova (Hudson) Sunday. I bought a 4 pak of Odd Side Ales Peanut Butter Cup Stout. see my review. They also had other OddSide beers. Buyer beware

What? Are you condemning the entire brewery for one bottle you didn't like? I have no idea what you're saying, nor what all five of your words about the flavor mean ("The flavors don't mesh right").

If everyone posted a 'warning' for every beer they scored around a "3", we'd see nothing else in this forum.

I've visited Odd Side. I had about ten different beers on tap while there, and they do some wildly eccentric shit - while some of those experiments are bizarre and don't do much for me, quite a few of their beers are absolutely world class. Hipster Brunch Stout and Rye Hipster Brunch stout are fantastic - if ever you have a chance to try them on tap at the Nova (or elsewhere), I highly recommend it.

Judging them based on your experience with one beer is pretty garbage, buddy.

 

Hey folks, long time lurker, first time poster.

Has anyone see Odell Mountain Standard hit stores? It's one I look forward to this time of year, and it's normally widely available.

 

Ok you guys run to Casanova and buy up all the Odd Side then. If somebody would have posted that the Peanut Butter Cup wasn't very good it would have saved me some cash. also note in the review I was questioning if it was a bad batch. Is this forum/review site supposed to be like Untappd? All peachy cream positive.

 

Ya why not post if you had some bad beer? thou must be all positive or the fan boys get upset. It seems like people will only give positive reviews, Never rate a beer below 3.5?

 

They are pointing out the fact you mention to be aware of purchasing beer from an entire brewery because you personally didn't enjoy one of their offerings.

In this thread or another a few people mentioned they couldn't stand CBS, while I happen to think it's insanely delicious. However, they didn't mention the store also sold several other Founders beers and buyer beware.

 

You're in the wrong forum if you're here to shit on any specific beer maker without cause. Your phrasing is what I personally took issue with. Buyer beware, the entire brand? That's a hugely baseless general criticism regarding your experience with one single beer.

If you read through reviews on Untappd, or on BA, you'll have some idea of what to expect - it's pretty elementary.

And I happily did buy plenty of Odd Side when I was at Casanova. As stated, Hipster Brunch Stout and the rye variety are both excellent - that's my actual experience, not just some guy's speculation about the entire brand on a beer forum.

 

Vidblain, look at your reviews and ratings do you rate bad beers? Hardly any ratings below 4.0.

also why not say were you bought the beer from ,there the one selling it. Note I stated the Bottling date in my review on purpose. So people would know which batch it was.

Note to newbies reading this, Watch out for peachy cream reviewers. Always look at a reviewers rating trends before you put much weight in there reviews.

Your criticism is interesting, but not particularly salient. I don't rate beers in styles that I dislike (Beer Advocate has this laid out quite clearly), and I don't review beers that I dislike on Beer Advocate - because it's not worth my time, and it may skew someone's view on a beer when they do like that particular style/beer.

If you're interested in my negative reviews, they're easily viewed on Untappd.

I understand why you're feeling defensive, but I'm not particularly interested in making this a personal feud with you.

Hey friend, if you're going to knock @Vidblain, why don't you go take a peek at my reviews, since I responded first. I'm pretty sure there are one or two below 4.0. Or maybe a couple thousand.

Why not just say "Ooops, worded that poorly" & move on? If you have a legit issue with one beer, nobody rational is going to have an issue with that, all of our tastes are different. To state it one more time, it's the apparent blast at Odd Side as a whole - which is how it came across, whether you meant it or not, which isn't very clear - that's silly.
