I brewed up a beer today in the spirit of something being talked about here..Here is an example of a light colored (3.4l) Continental Pilsner. I am a low oxygen brewery so the lack HSA darkening of the wort is quite evident here, also you can see my wort clarity in regards to mash and post boil.

    85% Weyermann Eraclea pils
    15% Weyermann light munich (8.8L)

35ibu triple hopped, added some sulfate to the water 2206

Brewday went well, and I will update this post with results.

Silly brewer. Don't you know that for the clearest beer you need to get all the trub into the fermenter? I have a link with proof.

Slacking due to holidays...FFT came in at 1.008 going to stop at 1.010 for about .5% extract remaining, this gives the beer the proper body, sweetness and mouthfeel. It will be spunded at 1.013 and naturally carbed. Main batch is about 1-2 days away from transfer.

250ml mash and 200ml end of boil (it's in the pH section towards the bottom on my sheet. )

Hows the color for 15% munich?

Sorry - I missed it. I expected to see it in the grain part, but see that's it's in the separate green box below it. As for the color - I'm quite surprised that you can actually make a pilsner with that clarity along with the Munich additions.

50,000 points for having a floor drain!! Some commercial breweries don't even have that feature.

Sorry for coming in late on your low oxygen posts. The results appear to speak for themselves. Those were some breathtakingly clear beers you posted in the January homebrews thread. You've probably said this somewhere, or maybe it's obvious and I'm being obtuse... how is it that you reduce the oxygen?

Thanks. When I built my house 3 years ago, a brewery was built into the basement. Floor drains in the brewery and fermentation cellar. A dedicated grain storage room, that is temp and humidity controlled, big SS sink/cleaning area, etc. It’s behind a 7’x5’ picture window. I am actually working on finishing off the basement now and when sitting at the bar the brewery will be the focal point behind the glass.
