    hi everyone!

I’ll be in Amsterdam January 13-16th on vacation. I’m looking for beer bars that cater to Dutch or European beers and have very good food. Are there any can’t misses? I just want to try a bunch of stuff I can’t get in the states. Also, looking for local breweries as well. I’ve looked in the places section but I wanna here from people that have been or live in Amsterdam.

    Thank you in advance!!

Arendsnest does only Dutch biers.... they have a great list..... Not much for food, if I recall... have only imbibed there..... In de Wildeman also has a large, varied list, plus food, though not extensive. Have had good meals at de Biertuin, and their list is nice as well, with a good amount of locals...

    Prosit!

    Hi,

The first two that spring to mind with a good combination of food and good (Dutch) beers are

"Cause Beer Loves Food", this is a fairly new place and I actually haven't been there yet. But it is from the same people as Arendsnest, so they know their beers. And I've heard good things about the food.

"De Molen". They are not located in Amsterdam but by train, it is not far away. De Molen is IMHO the best brewery in the Netherlands. So for beers, you can't go wrong there. But their taproom also does quite good food. I've eaten there a couple of times and always enjoyed it a lot.

Breweries I would recommend to drink are:
    Het Uiltje
    Moersleutel
    Kees
Emelisse (especially the White Label beers)

And specifically in Amsterdam a couple of good breweries:
    't IJ
    Oedipus

    Cheers!

I liked De Zotte for food with an interesting beer list. That was a few years ago, however.

I completely agree w/ Hayley_86 recommendations for a trip to De Molen & a walk to Oedipus.

De Molen is an easy train ride, (less than an hr.). The food & draft list are awesome AND you can walk out of their store w/ a pile of De Molen beers!!! Well worth a visit.

Oedipus is a great brewery in Amsterdam. Getting there is easy, but requires a little walk. Take the ferry from the Central Station & then map out the walk. Oedipus is most definitely worth the hike...many great beers and the burgers are fantastic.

If you haven't lined up a hotel, I would recommend the Avenue Hotel, very close to the Central Station & they serve a nice breakfast that is included in the room cost, (not very common for Amsterdam Hotels).

Amsterdam is a great city, enjoy your trip.

FYI: Dubai is a complete beer desert!! (no pun intended, just no good beer!!)

I really was more focused on staying within Amsterdam. I really only have 72 hours so if I could avoid hour train rides that would be ideal haha. Thank you for all of your other suggestions. I think Oedipus will be a brewery that ill check out for sure!

Also, this is my 3rd trip to Dubai and you are right it is a beer desert!

    You can try beer cafes:
    'In de Wilderman'
    'Café Gollem'
    'Proeflokaal Arendnest'
    'Craft & Draft'
    'BeerTemple'

Hopefully you have a nice time in Amsterdam.

For a bar not far from the central train station I loved Het Elfde Gebod.
