Other Half December 2017

Hey Everyone,

I'm going to New York City for the first time the day after Christmas. I convinced the gf to check out Other Half and I wanted to get an idea of what to expect. I have no idea how often they release cans or how bad the line is on those days so any info would be helpful.

Previous Oh... Iterations were forgettable. This newest batch is the best 6% abv IPA they've ever made.

 

Tuesday at Other Half are pretty chill, nothing too crazy. Cans are released every Saturday and normally sell out that day and lines are pretty long. Sometimes they do a weekday release but they are sporadic.

 

I second this.

Amazingly well. I cracked one open last night.

Nice, I'm planning to crack one side by side with 4th Anni for fun. Definitely one of my favorite beers from this year, dangerously drinkable.

 

They did 2 midweek releases last week. You may see some cans still available as well as bottles of stout. They open at noon. And they have a ton of merch.

 

Other Half released a ton of amazing beer in 2017 but that 3rd Anniversary is one of the best IPAs I’ve ever had. 10% nowhere to be found. Intense tropical notes. Zero astringency
The first batches of DDH Mylar and DDH DMDD were up there too

 

Watch Batch 1 a 2017 release? I can't keep track. But it's top 5 for me for sure.

 

I know everyone here loves to shit on the #lactoseboyz but honestly the DDH Daydream series to me was the biggest hit of this year. The sweetness from lactose along with the oats gave it a nice creamy mouthfeel and the DDH version had enough hoppiness to cut through the sweetness. DDH DMDD is probably my pick for my favorite beer from this year.

 

After checking their IG it looks like DDH Mylar was first released on NYE 2016. I didn’t make it to that can release but tried it on tap later on

 

Wait, they open at noon? I thought I checked their hours and it said 3.

 

It'd be cool to see a daydream version of that same release this weekend.

 

Had Space Daydream, Double Mosaic Daydream and Hop Showers w/Vic Secret this weekend. Space Daydream was excellent but Hop Showers was incredible. Might be my favorite that I’ve had from OH.

 

This sounds about right. I remember cracking a can on a friends Brooklyn rooftop that night. Good way to start the New Year

This was insanity at the time. Crazy DDH has become the norm for them.

Forever Ever: 4.7% Session IPA hopped with apollo, azacca, citra, jarrylo + mosaic. 1/6 $150

DDH Cheddar: 7.9% Imperial IPA w / citra, equinox, kohatu + wai-iti. 1/6 $275

DDH Broccoli: 7.9% Imperial IPA w / cascade, hallertau blanc, mosaic + simcoe. 1/6 $275

DDH Double Mosaic Daydream: 8.5% Double dry hopped imperial oat IPA w / mosaic, lactose sugar + oats. 1/6 $275

DDH Daydream In Green: 8% Double dry hopped imperial Oat IPA w / citra, motueka + wai-iti. 1/6 $275

Triple Cream: 10% Imperial oat cream IPA w / citra, equinox, kohatu + wai-iti. 1/6 $275

 

I wonder if we will see a mid week release Wednesday or Thursday...

 

I think so, with the keg list being 7 varieties this week...
