Good evening BA, have a great Tuesday and Boxing day. Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday weekend. I certainly had enough junk food to not want it again for 6 months haha. Definitely time to get back to the normal exercise and diet routine today, and for the rest of the week.

Fantastic wheat ale! Got a fresh pack this week, 12 days old. Flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit, light honey malt balance; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, grassy, citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; great bready/grainy wheat creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing bitter dryness. Insanely drinkable and refreshing, with awesome Amarillo hop juiciness and vibrancy. Never pass this up when I see it now.


Amazing DIPA! My BIL gave me a 3 week old 4 pack as a gift. Flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread, light honey/caramel malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Insanely drinkable, never overly aggressive. Extremely dank and vibrant hops; with a nice solid malt backbone. One of the most refreshingly drinkable DIPAs I've ever had. Simcoe, Citra, and Centennial hops.


Wow, this is tasting insane. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, tobacco, leather, and light smoke/charred malt; with some mild herbal/piney hops. Bittersweet roast balanced finish; amazing creamy, silky, velvety, and lush full body. Slight increasing hop/roasted dryness. I can only hope they bring this beer back in one form or another. This does have a lot of similarities to Expedition in flavors; but it has more of a sweeter and less drying roast/char finish. Getting even more intense on the licorice/dark fruit complexity after 28 months since release. This was my last bottle, but I wouldn't be surprised if I find more eventually. I kept finding random singles every so often earlier this year.


2011 4D, last one in the cellar. Wow, tasting amazing as expected. Huge flavors of caramel, molasses, toffee, raisin, prune, fig, cherry, date, vanilla, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, tobacco, leather, light chocolate, and herbal/woody earthiness. Minimal herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish; but still has incredible balance, and zero cloying sweetness for 13.5%. Slightly drying hop oils. Creamy, silky, slick, and dense mouthfeel; mild carbonation, but adequate. This is one of the best old ales I’ve ever had, and the bourbon barrel version is even better, and in my top 10 beers of all time. Enormous amounts of spot on style complexity. Only Hair of the Dog Adam beats it for the non BBA style, IMO. This one definitely already peaked, so glad I had it now. Some noticeable oxidation, but not much.

Thankfully I do not need to do much today, as my gf is at work the rest of this week and her son is with his father until Wednesday....too flipping cold to do much outdoors....
