I don't care what color the wax or the sprinkles, specks, dust, and glitter are as long as they are all barrel aged.

 

My boss surprised me with a sixer of Zombie Dust and a bottle of Floy Division IV for Christmas. Just in time for me to get sick and not be able to drink 'em

 

...and now your monthly Rue d'Floyd update.

My sister got me two bottles for Christmas. I have no idea how long ago she bought them, or what conditions they were stored under.

I am a curious person, so I had to crack one open, especially given the reports of 3 Floyds accepting open bottles for credit.

I got a gusher. Not a huge one, it took two or three seconds, but there was a mess. Taste was part tart cherry, part medicinal cherry cough syrup with a punch of cheap, artificial vanilla at the end.

It was bad, but in a really interesting way. I got through about half a glass before the interest waned.

 

I had 25 million dollar man on tap at Parlor Pizza downtown. Didn’t realize this was poured anywhere outside of the 3 Floyd’s taproom. Thought it was really good, and so did the 3 friends I was with, who aren’t nearly as in to craft beer as me.

 

Mid to late August (I remember talking with him about this during the Mayweather vs McGregor fight) a friend had the third scenario happen to him. He was trying to return unopened bottles and the kiosk worker denied him. He asked if they opened one and agreed it was bad would they offer him a refund. Another guy came from the back, they opened the bottle, agreed it was off (wouldn't admit infection) and they exchanged them for Crack the Sky.

Shortly after I opened all my bottles and they were either gushers or drain pours. I have no doubt that it was infected and not just the cherries causing off flavors.

I took my bottles back and was offered a refund no questions asked. I've always gotten excellent customer service from them and this was no exception.

 

I think I've had 2 NE style IPAs from 3 Floyd's so far. Both have been very well executed. Would love to see them bottle one.

 

Don't forget the lack of a special release in awhile.

Speaking of, wonder when the next will come. What's it been, 3-4 months?

 

I brought an unopened bottle into the kiosk today and the guy working couldn’t have been nicer. He Said “what you don’t like sours?” And then scanned a gift card. In and out in 2 minutes.

I thought I was one of the only ones getting lucky with my Rue Dfloyd but luck ran out. Had a bad bottle the other day and decided to open up my bottles until I got a good one, 6 bottles all bad. Had my last bottle maybe 7 or 8 weeks ago and it was a little cherry forward but nothing crazy, these were hot garbage.

 

I will second that. Had my last bottle a few months back and was very cherry, but ok. This weekend, opened one cold and it had a slow gusher associated with it. Tasted awful. I'll be planning my kiosk visit in the coming weeks.

Bomber prices are increasing? I can understand sixers going up, but damn, most bombers are already $10 minimum.

 

They've been $10 for the past 10 years. I appreciate them holding the rate as long as they did. I have no problem paying $1-2 more.

 

There’s also no tax. So you’re still coming out ahead.
