I stopped at a BevMo here in SoCal while home for the holidays. Must have had 8 bottles or so on the shelf. Picked up a couple, but might head back before the trip is over. Looking forward to this as I don't think I've ever had it before.

My recommendation is to drink it now and enjoy it now. Whether a beer is released infrequently (or even never again) is irrelevant to when a beer should be consumed imo. The brewery released the beer to be consumed now as well. Even the brewmaster prefers the freshest versions of his beers. Cheers.

Beer is for drinking, not staring at.

Also, CBS has a reputation for aging very poorly. If you haven't already drank it it's probably too late...

I think CBS actually ages surprisingly well. Had a buddy share a 2011 bottle at Huna day 2015 that was still drinking well.

1.) drink it soon - mainly because if you like it, you can trade for more for cheap / vaguely hard to find stuff right now.

2.) drink it with friends. I’d recommend drinking it over breakfast, with a fresh palate, possibly after an evening of big beer sharing. It’s a balanced and rich beer - many of my comrades enjoyed it and only wanted a small pour.

3.) keep your expectations in check, and form your own opinion.*

    *applies to all beer.

I think CBS will peak, personally, in a few months. Once the coffee fades a bit and allows a bit more balance of the other goodies in the beer... Really nice as is, but I look forward to trying my remaining four bottles every other month or so to see how it changes.

Had a bottle with family on Christmas and we all thought it was fantastic.

Perhaps Founders serves it at a warmer temperature. I’ve noticed after it really warms up, the maple becomes much more evident. When it’s just out of the fridge, it’s not nearly as maple forward. Let’em Warm up guys!

Was any reason given as to why Canada received 12oz bottles?

I don't think anyone said that Canada got 12 oz. bottles.

Rumor has it, they got 22oz bottles, but they shrunk to 12oz because of the cold.

The 12 oz bottle is not specific to Canada but rather all international markets. There was this older article which has this quote from a Founder's rep. It's a BS reason imo. While 750s might be commonly found in the US, consumers by and large despise the format. But we all know US consumers will pay for the format too.
