Geez, I wish that was true everywhere! It'd save me hours every month washing growlers!

I've been going to Jack's pretty regularly for something like four years now, and they have always done the deposit-and-exchange thing for growlers. The guy's comment about breweries that don't exchange growlers is off base for sure, but I do think the Jack's system is superior.

Thanks for the love, @JonnyJuicebox! It's been lovely to introduce family members, in particular, to the whole wide world of acid-forward beers with FB. We are excited to find out what some age does to Fresh Boysen, too.

Sorry that we didn't do a great job of explaining ourselves; at both @JacksAbbyBrewing and Springdale we exchange growlers that come in with freshly washed ones. It's always been our procedure at both spaces.

Yup, part of the Jack's year-round lineup!

Hmm. Glad it banged; lame we didn't follow through. PM me and I will make sure we get to hook you up next time you're in our hood.

Thanks for the reply, it really didn't matter in the slightest, just kinda threw me off. Makes me curious though, with the new mass law that we can bring unmarked growlers to any brewery to have them filled, does this throw a wrench in what Framingham makes you guys do? Do you end up eating the cost of those growlers? I can't imagine you'd hand out unbranded growlers from the brewery, although I think that would be kinda badass.

But yeah, Fresh Boysen is awesome, and I plan on holding onto at least one of my bottles for a year or two to see what happens. Right now it's probably the freshest barrel aged beer I've ever tasted, which is kind of an oxymoron but it's true.

The new law allows breweries to fill unbranded growlers if they choose; we've stuck with our stated policy of only filling our own growlers, with the exchange I mentioned earlier. Honestly we have not seen much demand for unbranded growlers. Of course, now that I've said that on here...

Regarding "fresh" barrel-aged beer - I will never forget cracking a freshly released bottle of Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus. I realized instantly why they suggest drinking them fresh, as it was the closest I could imagine to "pure" fruit character. Who knows what FB will be like in a few years, but I'm excited to find out.

On that note, we've got an aged inventory of bottles going back to the days when Springdale was "Jack's Abby Sour Barrel Project," both for science and fun. We'll be cracking a limited amount for our anniversary party in late January (26th). We're excited to see what's going on in some of these bottles!

Just wanted to say that I think Post Shift Pilsner is becoming my new go-to beer. Quality, a great price and relatively easy to find around here. Keep sending it!

I'm excited for 6 packs of Framinghammer and Saxonator. They are coming but not soon enough!

Had good morning granny from them around Christmas time, split a four pack with my brother. I don’t understand the hate that beer receives. I found it delicious and so did my brother. Not a big fan of their hoponius union though.

I didn't hate it, it was just a weird, weird beer.

I didn’t hate it all either. I thought it would taste bizarre but all the adjuncts worked pretty well and balanced each other. Whether I wanted multiple pours is a different question. I was amazed I actually was able to perceive the tapioca.

This batch of Lashes is real nice. Reminiscent of Ma from Tree House.

I picked up a single at the brewery awhile back, and I was definitely a little apprehensive that I would hate it. However, as I generally like most of JA’s offerings,
I wanted to try it, and low and behold I enjoyed it way more than I would have thought given the description of the beer!

I found most of the hate for it on Untappd

And bonus, their latest email newsletter says that this is just the first part of a new year long series of kellerbiers.

    "New Year, New Beer

This year we'll be releasing a new rotating series of kellerbiers. The Kellerseries will be in both cans and on draft at the Beer Hall with limited draft distribution. Our first release is called Dinkel Herb, a bitter spelt lager inspired by Jack’s recent trip to Germany. You can read more about the Kellerseries in his latest Blager Story chapter here."

Was also happy to hear all of their core beers are moving to 16 oz cans and they’re releasing a new core brand/beer in 16oz 6-packs (and 12 packs). I would love to see it be Citra N’Ella – that was a highlight at the beer hall this past year. One of the best IPLs they’ve ever made –in fact, that combined with the recent batches of Hoponius, made me feel like they got their IPL mojo back.

Dinkel Herb is extremely good. I'm excited to see the German porter make an appearance in the Keller series.
