I'm hoping they still have some vintage bottles when I drive through Portland tomorrow

Swung by the taproom yesterday to pick up Resurgam and Coolship Red. Also totally geeked out and grabbed one of those Allagash crates that store 12 oz bottles for my “cellar.” Awesome looking piece.

Cracked open a Red last night and gah DAMN - what a beer, BAs. Almost misty-eyed whilst sipping it. In so many ways its the beer that I never knew I was searching for since going deep into craft. So complex, unique and just pure joy to drink. To have tried it a few years into my journey only made me that much more capable of enjoying it. Cheers.

Seriously can't go wrong with any of the coolships at Allagash. Resurgam probably my favorite beer of all time...and I knew it after the first sip. Why chase rare lambic when you can just go load up at Allagash.

I've had trending towards zero success aging any of the fruited beers. They turn quite fast. I'm around 60/40 good/bad on aging resurgam. In controlled conditions, not a cabinet or basement corner, that's not good success. Loading up might not be as beneficial as loading up on lambic, rare or not.

Love the shit out of Allagash. They make some of the best American sours, but I drink fresh. YMMV.

Nailed it. This is my experience too. I had several negative experiences with '14 Resurgam and haven't been dying to go back to newer blends. Mixed fermentation off flavors that did not sit well with me.

I'm good with cuvee Renee and boon if I get the spontaneous itch.

Interesting, I wonder why that is? I've never held onto a coolship longer than a year before I drank it, but I did get a bottle of 2011 this past year(from the brewery) that tasted pretty good to me. Have you found this to be the case for all of their beer or just their coolships?I have a little sal that's pretty damn old at this point...might check that out tonight.

Ive not tried to age many of thier other beers but Matinna Rosa turned to vinegar on me, and Nancy didnt fare well at all. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on how Little Sal held up.

The thing they sell "house" in? Do they sell those separately so you don't have to buy 2 cases of House? That was the only thing that really annoyed me when I visited Allagash. I loved House, a lot, wanted to take home either 6 or 12, but they only sell it with that crate and you bring it back to refill it. Just a weird policy imo.

And even that didn't annoy me too much, just bummed I couldn't bring home some House without it. Overall the experience was great.

I was able to buy the crate w/out House over the summer. Currently holds our collection of 5oz flight glasses. Don't remember the cost though

That’s the one - bought it without having to commit to a case of their house brew (which I’ve never tried). I was like a horse with blinders on - nothing in sight but Coolship.

Really looking forward to this. I think it might be their first non-sour blended beer?

Tried Pastiche today. It was interesting, but the taster in the flight was enough for me. Didn't feel the need to buy a bottle. Looking forward to trying emotional honey.
