Having a Godefroy Blonde. A local beer I brought home from the town of Bouillon in the south east of Belgium. Also the region of La Chouffe, Orval and others. Wonderful part of the country, forests, hills history etc. (and beer ofcourse).
The beer is named Godefroy Bouillon, one of the leaders of the first Crusade (1096-1099). His castle still dominates the town.
    Cheers!

Good afternoon, BAs! Off school for another few days, so getting some bonus drinking time in.

This is very tasty, but maybe not worth the $4.99 I paid for it. I’m going to be drinking way more Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, and especially @Sixpoint in 2018. Similar quality, but for a fraction of the price.

Staying the course with another barrel aged coffee stout. This brutally cold weather reminds me of how bad I am at being bored. Stepped out for the picture and to fill the bird feeders only to return with frozen fingers!:scream: I'm hoping the weather experts are correct with the predicted high of 30 degrees on Sunday. Here's to cabin fever....

Our frig completely failed yesterday, which led to a miniature crisis. Fortunately, we have a chest freezer we were able to quickly bring online, and I think we saved all our food - although it's all frozen now.

I moved the IPAs outside; it's the perfect temperature (don't worry; bottles are shielded from the sun :sunglasses:). Enjoying one of them now: my last White Oak Jai Alai.

Perhaps it's better to start by saying what it isn't because it's not a Saison, or a Farmhouse Ale, at least compared to those I've had. Brewer simply calls it beer but also states it's an India Pale Lager aged on oak staves. I don't really get oak and at 16 IBU it's hardly in the IPA class for hoppiness. It's basically a wheat beer with a substantial rye content so I'll call it a Roggenbier. Rye gives it flavor though which kicks in right at the start and lasts into the aftertaste. This is not a bitter rye, rather a firm foundation on which the beer is built. The firmness is almost hard yet has depth. There is a bit of a winey presence in this that adds to the sense of dryness. It's different and quite refreshing.
