BA has decided to limit brewery-specific threads to monthly/annual threads. Hoof Hearted rarely has more than four releases a month, so I think an annual thread is in order. The rationale is to keep things more organized.

    For newcomers (aka FAQ):
Hoof Hearted has two locations (Marengo and Columbus, OH). The Marengo location is where many canning events occur. Events are usually announced via Facebook on Mondays and occur on the following Sunday. These release parties require a ticket to reserve can allotments. Details on allotments and price vary per release. Growler and Draft are both options at these releases and do not require a ticket. Food is often available through a food truck. This location is only open during canning events at this time.

The Columbus brewpub is open Weds-Sun. They do growler fills, but they are pricy (discounts are available on Weds/Thurs 5-7pm and all-day Sunday -- I think 25% off?). Canning releases here have become more commonplace and do not usually require tickets (typically coming Weds at 3pm), but they are sporadic. Social media is the best option to keep updated. The taplist can be found here. This location has a good Friday "Flights and Bites" deal that includes several mini food plates and four beers for a cheap price.

Overall, HH does a decent job with hazy NE-style IPAs and is a good Ohio brewery. "Flagship" brews include Roller Blabe, Konkey Dong, South of Eleven, Dragonsaddle, Key Bump, and Musk of the Minotaur.

History of release is maintained here (this is not mine, so please don't @ me about something missing)...

We visited the Columbus location this weekend. I really enjoyed the Konkey Dong. It's a nice location, not too crowded.

Also, my kids really enjoyed laughing at the name of the brewery.

    @gilligantrips is Key Bump next?

Yep. No fb event yet, but it's coming with Mom Jeans and a teku.

Scratch that... release is up on facebook. $5 tickets for this one, despite the trouble a lot of people had with KD.

It mentions Elmomocoe hops for the Key Bump. Is that the same hop profile on the last Key Bump release?

Out of towner (but former Columbus-er) here who was there for the Fitness Freak / Dork release. My friend went to DS and sent me a can of BBA Fitness Freak. Wife and I did a side-by-side tonight watching the Cavs. Man, I can't believe how much of an improvement the BBA version is. I live in Chicago these days and it takes a good BBA stout for me to be impressed, but BBAFF meets that criteria.

With events like Konkey and Key Bump it really doesn't matter what they set the pricing at. You have likely 1500+ people gunning for 400 tickets. You could charge for the full allotment and it'd still be an instant sellout.

There's a lot of adverse consequences with $5 tickets. A lot of shitlords buy them regardless of thinking about the day in question. We saw relief in this regard when prices rose for a short stretch, and even the higher visibility beers did sell slightly slower than they otherwise did with the low price.

You're probably right. I think the set up where you were forced to buy one of each 4 pack was probably the sweet spot.

Key Bump was the first hoof release I attended. Excited that it's back, hoping I won't have trouble with the tickets, the 2 four pack purchase thing was preferable imo, but I understand why it might upset some people.

Tickets went fast again. This is the new norm.

Looking forward to trying Key Bump again... IMO, it's better than DS.

Threads don't actually need to be this way. Last January (2017), BA admin decided it should be annual/monthly. There was this awkward period where many threads got locked in GL sub forum, new ones started, then BA admin changed their minds and undid the locks.

While I don't disagree with starting this thread, I wanted to point this out to avoid that clusterfuck of last year.

First time not getting a ticket in a while. Got kicked out a few times and no dice. Add me to the rest of the masses who missed out.

Agreed with you on Key Bump over DS too.

Got it. They locked the 2017 thread, so I ended up starting a new one. It helps me to update the FAQ as well, as a few things have changed.
