I don't disagree there is a lot of good beer out there. But we cannot just slam beers that have been around as crap just because my local guy has a killer DIPA for 2 bucks on tap that is way better. I have access to a load of fantastic beer that is cheaper and is amazing, but I still love this beer and will get a six pack. I am not picking on people just saying that everyone seems to pile on beers that are rated very well and have been great just because there are more options now. I bet if we took away all the local guys and massive amounts of beer and just had beers like this people would be saying it was out of this world and amazing. I think in a way people have become spoiled. We all have massive amounts of beer to choose from now and that is amazing, but I like to remember the guys who came first as still fantastic. I don't see this one as a conquest but again I have been wrong many times.

    Social Media and FOMO.

Westvleteren 12 was around for years but virtually unknown outside of Belgium before the introduction of sites like this one and their lists of X best, etc.

I do understand your stance. I just can't figure out what makes HopSlam / Heady Topper / etc. so special that people lose sleep over it. Guess we are spoiled, and that's a good thing. Lots of good beer out there..... CHEERS!

I get it that you don't like the beer, and that is just fine, but why do you also choose to insult some of us by telling us we enjoy a "shitty dipa" or that we are truck chasers?

That I would have to agree with. What you like is what you like. What I like is what I like. My argument here has nothing to do with bashing those who like certain beers. I just want to know what makes certain beers so sought after. To each their own.... that has always been my stance.

LOL exactly..... It's fine to say I just don't like this one etc. but sort of low to make us all who actually enjoy it look like fools :stuck_out_tongue:

Which is why I didn't quote some of what you said in my post. The issue of understanding fads and crazes, etc. has puzzled lots of us. (Including more than one marketing specialist I've chatted with.)

I totally support that, we all have our likes and preferences and sharing them is what makes it great.

Hell, I would get a huge pile of shit from some of these people if I stated what I DON'T prefer. But, they don't spend my money. And I tend not to care what anyone else thinks (prison has done that to me)(on the good side of the bars). lol.

I am curious, do a lot of people hate on this beer due to its cost? Let's say they reduced it to $10 a six pack, would people then open up to it more. I am wondering if so many are not fans because of the price point?
I just look at my local guys and they want $20-$22 a four pack, I can get this for $18-20 a six pack. So it is in line with today's costs.
Anyway just thinking maybe its a cost thing

I agree totally, I won't consume anything I hate. It could be rated 5/5 etc. and the top beer in the world, if I hate the taste I won't consume again. Like you said, its your cash so buy what you like and enjoy.

Price most definitely plays into what I will purchase. It has gotten a bit insane lately. Hell, i know people who gripe about $9.99 6 packs. Supply / Demand / Deep Pockets dictate this I suppose. If people are willing to shell out the big bucks, I am going to charge the big bucks. No brainer on a business standpoint.

Do many people still consider this to be an elite IPA. I enjoyed it when I had it, but at the price I can find better cheaper.

I am not a fan of high cost but we cannot do anything about it now. People will pay it and they will charge it. Beer is now trendy and cool. Look at coffee, it was dirt cheap, then it became a fad to go to a cool hipster coffee shop and have a coffee. Now people are charging $20 a pound for what we once got for under 10 bucks.

Appears that way. Like we stated before, there are so many good options out there that you can get the same satisfaction locally and readily available. And for a lot less money.

They put coffee on the map, everyone opened up a small store to haul in the cash after they came along.

I saw a couple people trash the beer and others who are excited for it. Honestly hop slam is a really good beer, i was just curious how many people still think it's at the top tier.
