Dogfish Head - 120 Minute IPA

Technically this is from very late last night but I was too s%&#-faced to post here. The fact that I have a massive hangover justifies that I can still post this here this morning. Very fresh and still very boozy on the nose and taste, it felt at times that I was sipping something that was at least partially distilled. Tasty though.

Last of my NEIPAs, which is ok, because I think I'm already starting to get fed up with the style...

My number 1 favorite beer! Glad to see it out so early in the morning. I’ll put one in the fridge for later...Cheers!

A gusty 37 here in Sunshine City as I walked the dogs this morning; WTF, it was 87 when I left last month. This “winter warmer” should help take the chill off:

First taste of what I presume is from the NC brewery, dated 10/10/17. Cinnamon is muted and peppers/hot sauce fairly restrained. Dark chocolate, cocoa nibs and a touch of vanilla on the backend. Coffee more evident as liquid warms.

Looking at my 12/16/17 beer log notes, the Berlin brewery version is very very similar...today I noted vanilla, but none last month. The Berlin beer had a stronger coffee presence up front. For both,I found the spicy hot sauce/peppers/cinnamon “muted” compared to years past, and better balanced. Both seem a tad thin, but super easy drinking.

Just throwing this out there...even at 8.1%, for me, this is a poundable commercial Mexican Cake that can be enjoyed by many more people in multiple countries who like peppery flavored coffee stouts - ThanksStone!, and Cheers “barmates”, it’s good to be home!

    First time trying this.

I wasn't the biggest fan of High Westified. With this one, I think the combo of Coffee / Rye works really well. It initially tastes very familiar like all Barrel Aged Stouts, but then veers off and carves its own path with the tasting notes. Quite an enjoyable surprise, and ridiculous at its price point.

It's a twofer type of morning.

Speaking of twofers, I think the first band should sue the second band for stealing their guitar riff.

This is the variety I have to choose from in order to inspire me to get the 2 feet of snow out of my parking lot sized driveway and 5 foot bank at the roadway. Decided to have my go to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to get me moving. Thinking of the Sierra Nevada Hop Bullet to pick me back up when snow blowing is done.

Was planning on shoveling the snow, and burning the Christmas trees today, but it's 11 below out there. Supposed to be 14 above tomorrow, so it can wait until tomorrow. Got a big pot of curry stew simmering away and Breakfast Stout in my glass. Time to find a movie to watch.

    Cheers!

Good morning BAs! I'm a little late this morning because I decided to clean off our four inches of snow since last night. It was a balmy four degrees, too. I don't really mind the cold but those Thinsulate gloves are really useless pieces of shit - not much better than naked skin. I've been reading ENDURANCE, the story of Shackleton's abortive planned Antarctic hike. Those poor bastards spent over a year in tents on the ice and in boats, most days in well below freezing temperatures. We've got it pretty good.

    Today's New Brunch Beer:

Passable, but the flavor doesn't live up to the aroma.
