Yes, you can taste the maple, but it's not overpowering like other maple beers I've had. I felt it's a balanced amount of maple flavor and sweetness so you can still taste the white chocolate portion of the beer. Exactly what Xul said, I'm assuming that's what they did.

They're doing crowler fills, so if you like sweet beers and white chocolate, get someone to send you one.

The sugars in maple syrup are highly fermentable but there are other compounds that contribute to flavors as well. The big thing about maple is that it's really hard to get it to come through when using real maple syrup since it's a surprisingly delicate flavor. I once made a Bourbon Maple icing for some doughnut bread pudding and I had an absolute nightmare of a time trying to get those two flavors to balance or getting the maple to come through at all. Even with just maple syrup for another batch it took a significant amount of syrup before it began to shine through.

Dearest Bruery/@BruerJoel, please give us Port BA SHIT. I'm drinking an Anchorage Time Waits For No One that was aged in port barrels and it is literally blowing my mind.

White Winter Warmer...wow. Maple definitely comes through and blends well with other flavors. Grabbed a crowler for next weekend. Please bottle.

Also, finally tried bruecicles. Like drinking juice—quite good and not too hard on my stomach.

A little awkward and time consuming to use app in line. Doesn’t show Society level, but maybe that is coming? Did get half off a pour though.

Don't think you fully understood the first part of my post. Also, you have low expectations.

The base for Time Waits For No One is a bit thicker, if they did the base they used for the latest chron series, that would be incredible.

very true. This beer is so thick I feel like I should be eating it with a spoon.

To add on to the complaints portion of this thread... I, in fact, did have to walk all the way from the fulfillment center to the tasting room today. I thought since I mentioned it in here they would have a ritzy air-conditioned golf cart to take me over there. I was disappointed.

Terreux location was nice, once again. Such a change since the OG tasting room got rather busy by 1pm and there were maybe a dozen ppl at terreux. My complaint here, the music choice by the employees was soothing and relaxing. I kind of wanted to take a nap. Black metal or gtfo. =)

I make a bourbon maple cream sauce for my bread pudding and never have an issue getting the level of maple flavor I want out of it (admittedly, I'm going for subtle but present). What grade of maple syrup were you using?

I did, and I chose not to buy any of those beers since it was unclear- I wasn't even sure I'd be able to checkout if I did make it that far because my expectation for the membership was that it started after 1/1/18.

It's all a work in progress, 100% agree. I guess having worked with retailers of different kinds in my life, I'd at least wait until the "Grand Opening" before giving them a hard time about the execution level. If you look at what they've been doing so far as a soft opening and a chance to get your beers asap if you feel you need to... well that's actually exactly how the Bruery has billed what's going on in DC so far! Cheers!

Grade A. I've heard Grade B is better for this kind of stuff but the selection where I was shopping was limited.

Ah, yeah, that will definitely make a big difference. They actually retooled the names of the grades a couple years ago from Grades A/B/C to various versions of Grade A with silly descriptors (B became "Grade A Dark Color, Robust Taste"). The darker the better for cooking though, you'll get considerably more flavor coming through in your dish. Not sure if you have a Trader Joe's location anywhere near you but they generally stock 25oz bottles of the Grade A Dark Robust for ~$10.

Miss having a booklet like the past years for basic info. Is there a calendar for SMM this year? And is it still being held at terreux like last year?

Pretty sure it's Terreux again, and you need to check in on that app in order for it to count (or collect receipts from the day and turn those in at the end).

I was going to point you to the online Society calendar - http://www.thebruery.com/societies/calendar/ - but there is nothing posted :slight_frown:

I do think they should honor the 2017 RS bottle shipments for 2018 RS members, if the site allowed users access and listed DC as a pickup option that's only fair.

Yea, agreed on the work in progress. It's more of a weird situation since it was a gift and I'm sort of being relayed info as well. Not a huge deal as I said l, just seemed disorganized. I'm excited to visit eventually and check it out for myself.

It turns out there is a booklet with basic info, FWIW: it's a smaller thing then before, but includes much of the same info, just not the stamp page. I was not given one when I picked up my package and had to go back for it, so they might've forgotten to get one to you as well...

Also, yes, it says at Terreux on the first Monday of Feb, March, April, May, June, August, October, November, and December.

Yea I tried the calendar since it always had good info but didn’t see anything. Yea I’m tracking the app with the check ins but just didn’t see anything about SSM or events besides projected anniversary date from an email. Thank you

I’ll stop back in there and ask for one. Probably similar to the 2016 one. Just small and useful. Just handy having all the simple things in a booklet instead of lookig through old emails or post. Thank you
