Sure didn't expect to see any double digit drops in major BMC labels. So sad.

Do people that brew Nattie Light look at it and think, Damn that's good! Or is it just produced with the knowledge that it's a cheap beer for the masses, college kids, etc?

15 years ago I read a small article that rated the quality of the beer and the country they came from in some obscure mens magazine. I was surprised that the US and Canada came in last. 15 years latter I totally get it. I believe that the US and Canada have been way behind the rest of the world in regards to the quality and types of beers out there. Thanks to the internet and the craft beer revolution way more Americans are becoming educated on how good beer truly can be. The public is becoming educated very quickly and the big producers cannot get away with the massed produced slop as easily as they have done so in the past. And I predict that it is just going to get worse for them.

Before the internet all there was was AALs, you saw the commercials and you bought what you liked. Now there's so much info on line, and beers from Sierra Nevada are everywhere, you can buy good beer in gas stations, and they're not the only ones. The lower end crap light beers I've got no clue, they're truly horrible and I like most normal AALs like Bud/Miller etc.

I'm surprised that High Life is down at a higher % than many of the others mentioned in the article over the last 5-6 years. It seems to be the one beer on that whole list that seems to be getting some street cred on BA. I guess with these beers mentioned, its all about the marketing, and High Life commercials are non-existant these days.

Someone told me just the other day that Bud Light, Busch Light and Natural Light are the same beer with different labels. I didn't believe the intel, but I was wondering if anyone every did a blind taste test of those 3 beers?

If/when I drink a lite lager I prefer miller lite. I find it to be the most flavorful lite lager.

I can’t say I’d be heartbroken if any of these brands ceased to be produced. They’re a waste of ingredients that could be used to brew more flavorful beer.

So if Americans are no longer drinking this stuff, then who is? Canadians? Mexicans? They're still selling a metric crapload of it.

No surprise that they are down but the amounts are pretty significant.

However the title "Beer Americans no longer drink" is misleading given they represent still the majority of beer that is consumed.

I cut the cable cord a couple years ago and I don't keep up with pop culture stupidity, so I had to Google that phrase. I was reminded of returning home from boot camp, going to a bar and hearing a bunch of DBag frat boys shouting Wazzzzuppp!
I had missed that marketing cycle while away, fortunately. Same stupid shit as talking frogs and football playing beer bottles. Appeal to the dumbest among us and they will follow like lemmings to the sea.

I will just say that the headline used by USA Today is quite misleading. #fakenews

To say that these beers are no longer drunk by Americans is misleading. Whats really happening is these brands are losing market shares (some at an alarmingly high rate for the long term viability of the brand). 13.2 million barrels of Budweiser down from 17 million in 2011 is certainly a not insignificant loss of market share, but then again, 13.2 million barrels is certainly a not insignificant market share still. Same thing with Bud light which still shipped 33.8 million barrels in 2016.
