I've reviewed four Exhibit A beers and I notice that, every one of them, 'appearance' was the lowest rated aspect of the beer and 'feel' was the highest. Which is sort of an odd contradiction because I would have thought that the same qualities that make for appealing mouthfeel also would contribute to appearance - at least and especially in an IPA?

I think I noted that carbonation was either low or no more than adequate. Which is odd, too, because I generally prefer my hoppy beers to be rather brightly carbonated but the reviews were long enough ago that I really can't remember just what they felt like.

At any rate, If I can't have 5's right across the board, and had to choose between look and feel, I'd go with feel. But I'd rather have both.

Just cracked a Demo Tape Twelve after drinking a Julius. Demo Tape Twelve is right up there with Julius. Great job Exhibit A!

Cat's Meow is the only one where I've noticed a lack of carbonation, my last 4 pack (all drank out of the can) had very little carbonation. Still tasty, but not what I was expecting.

Wife picked them up at Nasty Nonnis in Saugus. Can't recall the can date though

Very little carb in most of them. Some a little more than others. First one I poured had a thin lacing and seemed flatter than most beers would be. Second I poured more aggressively and Still little head. At least one seemed more carbed. And like I said, the cans themselves when squeezed had a lot of give to them for the most part.

Thanks for the all the feedback. Like I said before, we work every day to improve and conversations like this help in that process. We are going to experiment by bumping up the carb on the next batch of Cat's Meow to 2.65 to see if we lose less during the canning process. Hopefully those that have had issues will try the beer and report back.

I'll keep my eyes open for them and sample a few. All in the name of science of course.

Will Demo 14 graduate to a regular offering?

One of my favorite beers from you.

    Keep up the great work!

    I'll sign it

The only question is what to call it to accompany Hair Raiser and The Cat's Meow? The Koala's Nutz?

Has anyone seen any carb issues with Hair Raiser? I drank a can dated 12/11/17 last night and it produced no head. The glass I used is a hair (no pun intended) over 16 oz and I had no problem emptying the can which is unusual. As a comparison I next poured an Annie Oatley and it would have overflowed if I emptied the full can due to the head. The beer was fantastic as always but seemed light on carbonation. The beer was part of a bunch of beers I was given over Christmas so I am not sure where it was obtained from.

Head retention and vol of co2 are two different things. Are you talking about head retention?

Volume of CO2, it had no head to retain. The same issue discussed regarding Cat's Meow a few posts up.

Yes I've had carb/head issues with multiple 4-packs of HR. But it sounds like they're tweaking things to improve this.

Wasn't sure if that was limited to just Cat's Meow so I figured I'd mention it here.

We are working on both head retention and carbonation 'retention' which are two different things. We tested the Cat cans from batch 12/14 "Festival of Lights" and we found that most cans were fine although maybe slightly less carb than other batches. But yes, the head retention is something we are working on incessantly. To be transparent, we are upping the amount of carafoam in the beer to see if that helps. On the cold side, we are using a de-foaming product during primary fermentation because we are finding that the excessive foaming we get during fermentation is causing issues with head retention. Also, the hops in these beers counter our ability to have great head retention. We will get it there, just takes time. We are young and impressionable, so keep the confidence and correspondence coming. we are listening.

The four pack of Danko I just bought was well under carbed. Definitely something to the noise , like the beer though

Just tried the Demo Tape Sixteen and it reminded me heavily of the Borg Brugghús and Lamplighter collab called Sneaker Wave. These herb garden influenced brews are fantastic.
