This thread needed a bump, and here's yet another good cause to justify it. Charitable and socially conscious acts like this are happening all the time in this distinctively generous industry; and all these small contributions, from so many places, for so many causes, repeated over time, eventually add up to a lot. Oftentimes, it's the only way change is made. "To move a mountain, you must begin by carrying away small stones..."

Go out of your way to drink beers like this when you see them, and to support the brewers who make them, and the merchants who follow suit when they sell them. And then, if you're able, remember the cause and honor it however you can after the beer is gone.

    Mostly to bump the thread:

Boundary Bay today canned their Irish Red Ale, which is a Spring seasonal, brewed for, and in support of, Bellingham's St. Patty's Day parade, which in turn supports Whatcom County's First Responders. Should be in places one would see BB's packaged products starting tomorrow (1/9/18).

To echo @beertunes comments further above, by and large the craft beer community in the PNW is a giving community.

My nearly-neighbors Iron Goat have put on numerous charity events, as have many other local breweries and some pubs as well. Yesterday, I carried the hangover scars of Iron Goat's official re-branding of their Garbage Pale Ale as Paul's Pale (in honor of Paul Edminster, late IG co-founder and co-head brewer), held Thursday night at Community Pint (who, it seems to me, are always doing something for charitable causes, whether donating a portion of a particular beer's earnings to a particular charity or hosting a charitable event) with a portion of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

It's not at all surprising that a couple who named their brewery after their first-born child should have been magnanimous from the very beginning. Reuben's has always been especially easy to love; and now we have 100,000 more reasons to tip our caps in their direction and continue supporting them for the next 6 years. And the 6 after that. And so on and so forth...

They've done it with big and generous hearts every step of the way, and one cannot doubt they forever will.

@Naikoon, thanks for resurrecting this old thread, and many many thanks for telling us all about what Reuben's is doing. I've always loved them. Now I love them more.

Fellow BAs, if you haven't yet clicked on the link, do so now. You'll be happy you did.

Can I bump my own thread? Sure, why not?

I started this thread last year to highlight Sesiones del Migrante, from Bale Breaker.

I got the beer on tap, but missed out on the chance to get a six pack, as it sold out too quickly.

Now, Sesiones del Migrante is back in the stores. My grocery on Vashon has the six packs. It's still a very fine beer, an IPA that will appeal to those of us who like hoppy bitter beers, and also to those who like their IPAs fruity.

More to the point, it's still a great cause. The beer honors the workers who pick the hops for all our beers. The proceeds from the beer support a Yakima area non profit that provides educational support programs for the Latino community.

Bale Breaker has an interesting post on their website. It's an interview with a hop worker: https://www.balebreaker.com/blog/sesiones-del-migrante-diego-perez
