I am surprised there are still people that haven't blocked him yet.

I have wanted to avoid doing that but I may have to change my tune.

posts of dissension to the herd mentality here aren't accepted. Got it.

    Stillill.

Really have no idea why he seems to upset some people so much. A lot of his posts raise pretty salient points (IMHO), and often times the one's that appear to be intentionally antagonistic, are done just to get a rise out of people in a given thread (at least that's my impression). I think he does it just to entertain himself (in particular, the ones where he likes to brag about the number of mules he takes along to various HM and Fremont releases).

Not that I'm condoning that kind of behavior, but it's usually much ado about nothing and pretty easy to ignore.

Friend asked me if there’s any truth to Double Mountain taking over the old Redhook brewery in Woodinville. First I’d heard of it...

    Anyone?

Doubt it. I read that it was bought by a real-estate company that plans to use it as an office building with possible temp use storing energy drinks. Let me see if I can find the article.

Edit: Can confirm it was sold to Sound Commercial Investment Holdings, LLC. Not finding the article I read last month about the planned use. Every one I can find says nothing is known about the future usage of it. But had Double Mountain wanted it, it seems like they should've bought it directly rather than it being sold to a middle-man.

Well, actually, I blocked him long ago. No need to give an audience to an avowed mule driver.

My post was perhaps too ironic. I meant to point out that if you blocked someone who offended you, you'd never even see their posts.

Thanks for clarifying about The Shambles, as this was the first mention that I've heard of it. I thought that might be the name of the new establishment on the 1100 Block of NW 50th St in Ballard.

But that’s the textbook definition of trolling, which the Code of Conduct for this site explicitly, and wisely, forbids. And while many here are grateful for the leeway you typically afford us to be ourselves, this is one area where a little more proactive enforcement probably wouldn't hurt.

I've been a regular on this site a few years now. There's a wide variety of opinions, and no shortage of disagreement. Squabbles occasionally arise, and people sometimes overreact and say things they might later come to regret. I know I have. But this is normal, and maybe even healthy. It's how growth, or co-existence anyway, happens.

I'm not inside his head - and thus cannot truly speak to it - but he strikes me as the only guy I've ever encountered in this forum who comes deliberately in bad faith and with poor intentions. Just to bait people, sow discord, and light up some part of his id. Whenever anyone's tried to engage him in a thoughtful and reasonable manner, he simply doubles down on his sad shtick. I can see that yet again in this very thread. Unlike everybody else, constructive dialogue is anathema to him.

Most folks have gotten the memo, and comported themselves accordingly. I wish everyone would, so we could avoid these needless and unpleasant episodes altogether. It's much ado about nothing all right, but just not in the way that you mean.

P.S. Attention All Would-be Seattle Beer Tourists: We're actually a lovely place to visit. Let us know how we can help.

You know what makes it even easier to ignore?

    The ignore button.

I like BA just fine without people who "appear to be intentionally antagonistic...just to get a rise out of people in a given thread".

Please understand: I have no quarrel with your style of moderation. But the ignore button is there for a reason.

It can be a fine line sometime, but I always try to err on the side of leaving a post on the site rather than deleting. Also, we're encouraged "not to sweat" the small stuff, and I think most of Stillill's "jibes" fall under that category.

For those who do find his posts annoying, it's easy enough to ignore him. As others have mentioned, you can of course use the ignore prompt function if you so choose, or just don't respond to his posts

You have a problem with me? Come talk to me at Chucks CD today after noon, I have no problem meeting any of you. I will have an old maroon chucks shirt on and no hat. If I'm feeling generous I will give you an Alvarado Street can that my buddies are gonna get for me today.

I think we all appreciate you not being a nanny. I'd much rather block the annoying than have you decide for me.

I don't respond to his posts, and I do ignore him (without blocking him). The more intractable issue is that I can't readily ignore all those who do respond, and the minor shit-squall he periodically triggers. That's the stuff I don't like, because it's the only thing which really ever drags this place down. And it has happened more than enough already. Exactly how many times must we repeat this tiresome exercise before we learn its lesson?

Edit: PSA for Team Ignore: If the rumors are to be believed (a big if), and you want to finally put a face to the illustrious name, Stillill will be the bareheaded guy in a maroon Chuck's shirt at the CD anniversary party this afternoon. I'm all tied up, unfortunately, but won't someone please go and say hello? For science.

I can't tell if this is tongue in cheek or not, but assuming it's not, I actually think that's a very good idea.

I often find that my impression of someone changes completely once I actually meet them. Gauging what someone's personality is like based solely on internet posts is a very inexact science, and it's easy to take things out of context or to misinterpret nuances. Sarcasm in particular often times doesn't play very well (no matter how obvious the author may think the humor is).

Unfortunately, Chuck's is a bit too far for me to drive today, otherwise I'd stop by for certain. I suspect Stillill may not be half the ogre some of us seem to see him as on BA.

I don't expect anyone, not even you, to remember what I say in this forum; but I have repeatedly championed this sentiment before. And at least a few times in regard to ElijahSF, which I find kind of ironic, seeing as how he's a guy who's seemingly gotten under your skin.

Leaving aside the important question that it's his disruptive personality on this site which is the problem at hand, I'm fairly confident I'd like Stillill more if I ever met him in person. The bar, after all, is currently set verrrrry low. To borrow a line from the good @66jzmstr - a guy who proves it's possible to be as friendly, amusing, and generous online as he is off - Stillill may be a raging philanthropist for all we know. It would just be nice if he chose to be a half-way decent and respectful person here. Until he turns over a new leaf, I hope that everyone else can resist the temptation to meet him on his preferred level.

All this being said, I always try to practice what I preach. So, I'd gladly take one for the team and meet the guy for a beer some day. On one condition: he's buying.

Now let us please return to our regular programming.

I'm not a Seattle visitor (although not a native), but have a question for the collective: I have a non-beer drinking friend visiting Seattle this week but he does drink kombucha. Any recommendations on a spot (ideally either downtown or in northern neighborhoods) where we might both have some tasty options (beer + kombucha that is)?

Both Chucks locations should have one kombucha on tap and more in bottles.
