That is what keeps me from buying a ticket. The fact that you have to drop $200 and are required to buy 4 bottles. Maybe its just me, but I do not need 4 Huna bottles. Plus, my wife is not much of a beer drinker and they do not have an ticket option for a DD, as they should. I live in Sarasota and just cant bring myself to but tickets since it would require getting an hotel and the added costs.

Since this topic probably belongs more on the Huna day thread...

What’s next for cycle... they’ve bottles pretty much every variant they’ve created multiple times. I suppose they could continue to add other brewery adjuncts to their rare dos. But I assume we will see a weekly series release during beer week. Anyone have thoughts on what the next lineup would consist of?

How's that? I've been to every one but the first, and the last two have been the best.

Cycle's definitely in a weird place right now - with the majority of their bottle releases being weekly events for years now, they've definitely run through a lot of adjuncts and variants. I keep thinking they'll move into canning their core IPAs soon, especially now that regular brewery-only can releases have become A Thing in the beer world.

Who knows, maybe for TBBW that NE haze collab with Tampa Beer Works is on the way.

I feel the last two, excluding hunapocolypse, were the worst. That’s why I think a lot of th regulars are not going this year...

I don’t think cycles IPAs are good enough to can and release. You can get them as needed on crowler now. Greenbench is trying to get in on the NE IPA canning, with their turbid series, which seems to be getting better each iteration but still not anything to write home about. I assume cycles next step is limited distribution of their ba stouts. But since they recommend drinking fresh it’s a challenge.

I would enjoy cans of Crank and Fixie occasionally. And while Crank is not as great as it once was it's stilll a solid IPA. They are not the flavor of the moment, hazy, NEIPA styles (which I enjoy) but they are still solid beers, and I would enjoy 12oz cans as opposed to have to open a 32 oz growler.

Orange Belt Berliner and Gose cans would be awesome!!!!!

I bet they would sell a good amount of Cream and Suger please cans, especially a Hazelnut variant.

But most likely we will continue to see yearly weeklong releases.

And the radest would be 4-pack 12oz bottles of Rare DOS, and DBR.

I was going to say something along the same lines. And I'd add Sharrow to that list. I find Doug's IPAs to be solid and consistent, even if they're not following the latest trend.

Huna Day is fine. It's not the highlight of the year anymore but that's for a few reasons.

    1. Most people that go have been going for several years now and the novelty has worn off.
    2. It's easier to get "rare" beers than ever before.
    3. Easy access around here to world class stouts. I can get an amazing stout at pretty much anytime of the year. What I can get at Huna Day is not any better than regular releases in Tampa Bay.
    4. Huna Day has gone from a smaller event with beer nerds everywhere to a much larger event that has a lot larger and more diverse crowd. It's not necessarily a bad thing but it has a much different and more corporate type vibe to it.
    5. Hunahpu is still very good but there are better stouts available all year round now and the price to go is getting higher and higher.
    6. Personal one for me but when I started going I was just getting into beer trading and all things beer life. I had dozens of friends that were the same. We all got together and had a huge share the night before. Now as everyone is older, life gets in the way and it's not the same as it used to be.

I still go every year but it isn't the highlight of the year like it used to be. The whole week is now much better but Huna Day isn't by far the best event of it any longer.

I've heard Cycle used to brew some killer IPA's before they got in the BA stouts. That was way before I was familiar with Cycle so I have yet to try a great IPA from them.

Cycle Crank used to be amazing. I noticed that something changed early in 2016. Not sure what changed but it's not the same beer. The other IPAs are ok but as a beer trader, I'd rather trade for others. I'm not a huge hop head, but if I was, I could see myself getting the occasional cans, but that would be a rarity.

I hadn't thought about it, but yeah, Cream & Sugar cans would sell like crazy locally.

Completely agree. Crank, and Rickshaw for the short while they made it, were my two favorite Florida IPAs for awhile.

Back in 2014/2015 Crank was the first NE style IPA I had from Florida and it was great. While still a good beer it has definitely changed. Still it would sell well in 16oz. cans along with Fixie or Cream & Sugar.

FL is still lacking in great IPA's. Jai Alai is a solid beer that time has kind of passed by. The only hoppy beers I go out of my way to get are from Civil Society and Calusa.

Is CCB brewing White Oak themselves again? I got a crowler of it last weekend. Seems to taste much better than a year ago. Then again I was freezing my ass off at Monster Jam trying to keep 5 years olds from hurting each other while they were wrestling so I wasn't paying much attention to it.

From what I have heard Hunahpu Day Ticket Sales are "lagging" this year which does not really surprise much as all the locals I know have moved on...seems to be a Tourist Event more than anything now..would be interesting to see a Ticket Buying Location Breakdown..won't surprise me at all if El Cat Members are offered an option to buy Hunahpu Bottles after The Festival as CCB is going to have a lot of bottles to unload
