I bought one of these tonight at Cigar City and remembered this discussion. They were $75 and included the insert. You can also use your El Cat discount.

I know this wasn't the point of the original discussion, and the point was finding inserts during TBBW. But I thought this was a good deal. They sell for $70-80 online with the inserts from what I've seen. $60 for a Cigar City one with the insert was good.

They had at least one left on display, and said there were some in the back.

Curious where everyone is staying this year with the venue change? I also noticed there aren't any discounted hotel rates listed as in years past.

I always just use Priceline. I think I got an extended stay by the brewery for like 80 bucks a night Friday and Saturday this year.

It's funny, I've always stayed at the hotel by CCB because it was more mellow, really not that far away, and I could walk over to the taproom if I felt like it. We're still staying there, but going the opposite direction for the fest this year, which is now five minutes closer.

As you can imagine, there are plenty of hotels in that area due to it being the Bucs stadium, as well as there being Steinbrenner Field next door, i.e. the Yankees Spring training location, which will be going on at the same time...

Yeah, the hotel rates in the area are insane (though I didn't check Priceline). Not being a spring-breaker, I wasn't mentally prepared for the prices within long walking distance.

We opted for a really cool-looking Air BnB about 10 minutes away. It'll cost a bit more in Uber fees, but at $100+ a night less, I'll take it!

Doing the extended stay place on Westshore for $110/nt for a 2br suite since it is 3 of us. 25min walk to CCB and uber everywhere else. Couldn't find anything on AirBnB that came close. Don't really care if its a dump...its a guys beer trip.

My wife and I got a room at the Stadium Hotel just down the street from where the festival will be. If I remember correctly, it was around $120 a night.

For those that are local is Seminole Heights an ok are to stay in? Seems to be a bit transitional so hard to get a read on it without being there.

Well now that they found the serial killer it’s safer and Angry Chair is in that neighborhood.

Here’s what I would’ve written regardless of whether they’d arrested a person in connection with the four murders ...

Seminole Heights has a lot of really cool stuff but as you (@bparker551) suggest, it is transitional. This a broad generalization but to draw gross lines, you’re likely to be OK between I-275 and the Hillsborough River and between Dr. King Blvd (but definitely Hillsborough Ave) to the south and Sligh Ave to the north. I’ll reiterate that that’s a broad guideline: There may still be some bad pockets therein and some great pockets just outside there.

Angry Chair is in that area ... as is 7venth Sun and The Mermaid Tavern (along with some Beard-nominated restaurants). And, at night, I’d be inclined to grab an Uber even though the walking distances may not be that far.

I know it’s dramatic to say Angry Chair was “near” where the killings were (and, to be sure, it is “near” — if not indistinguishable — in a global perspective) but they were in a pretty tight radius of an area two miles south and, importantly, on the other side of the interstate from Angry Chair.* Just so we can finally perhaps dispense with the “Nerdz braved the killing fields to drink at Angry Chair” narrative. (It is a LOT more accurate to suggest homebrewers were taking more of a risk when going to buy supplies at Southern Brewing. And yes, fear cast a pall on broad activity in what’s generically called Seminole Heights until the arrest was made.)

    * Not in the area where I would’ve suggested an out-of-town visitor stay regardless.

So how's the Lowry Park area west of the zoo?

Judging by last year's thread, looks like the brewery list was updated to their website by now. Kind of hoping it's put up soon so I can paste into a spreadsheet--that's a lot easier than looking at the images on social media.

My suggestion would be a hotel around the airport. That way you are in the center of the action of events in St Pete and Tampa. Just plan to uber/lyft. There are a lot of motels in Seminole heights but take that with some risk of cleanliness or safety. While I wouldn't call Seminole heights dangerous, I wouldn't walk too far as you may be susceptible to petty crime or harassment. The breweries/bars/restaurants are awesome around there though.

By doing something central around the airport you have short rides to each area for the bigger events(Cycle BA day, Green Bench Foudre for thought, Hunahpus Day, and 7th Sun Hangover Day). But Downtown St Pete is probably the best place if you want to finish the night drinking/eating somewhere close to the hotel that is easy to walk around. If you have the family then look into something like Dunedin area, great downtown area close to 2 great beaches. There will be tons of events going on so you may find something more intriguing other than the big events closer to your hotel.

Do you have a spreadsheet for last years event? People have mentioned in this thread that the app still works, but I get server error.

I basically do, it's not formatted the same way the original html post, but I think it's exhaustive. I've never posted/shared a spreadsheet though online, it's Excel, not sure if there's an easy way. I could paste as is, not sure if it will let me do the full thing on BA though.
