NC sour options

    Each year I make an annual trip to visit my son in Chicago and we swap local beers that are not available in our designated areas. He has recently fell in love with sours. So I took several Wicked Weed offerings last year that he loved. Medora, Brettaberry etc.

    Other than WW and a couple D9's, I have not had many NC based sours. So my question is, what are some good one's to seek out for my next trip.

    Westbrook gose and key lime gose are great and easy to get

    They don't get distribution in NC?

    They do but Westbrook gets distribution to other places as well (like New York).

    He wants NC based sours only. He can get plenty of other options but as he is originally from here that's what he's interested in. But I will look into those to try for myself.

    Barrel Culture in Durham is new and doing sours in NC They just released some new beers and they do not distribute currently.

    Fonta Flora does some sours and I heard a rumor that they might start to see some distribution in 2018 - otherwise they frequently have bottles for sale at the taproom.

    Bottles I've seen around the Triangle recently that might be of interest include:
    • Haw River Darius
    • Zebulon Mixed Berry Petite Saison
    • Natty Greene's American Sour
    • Olde Hickory Flanders
    • Lynnwood "Barrel Room" series
    • Green Man Bootsy (Tasty Bev only - not sure if still available)
    • Hi-Wire sours

    This is an excellent list of Sour beers if available... Natty Greene's American Sour is top shelf, Bootsy as well. Hi-Wire is making some nice Sours and if you can find that Zebulon, grab it as well. Good compilation Wedge. I may need to make a trip to the Triangle area. Heh.

    Also FYI: Zebulon FramboZe was still hanging around on shelves at Salud in Charlotte as of a couple weeks ago. Long gone around the triangle though...

    bond brothers had a peach sour for sale recently. they may still have that and other sours of theirs like disenchantment. may want to call before going over.

    i don't know if bhavana still has bottles of any of their sours or not, but worth checking as well.

    I feel like I see it all the time, but I think I saw both it and Hitchpost at Sam's Quik recently. I definitely saw a bottle at Durham Whole Foods tonight.
