Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Looking to be another nice milder weather day today. Supposed rain later on in the evening. Will be doing my normal errands for the day: bottle returns, laundry, and a grocery run. Need to find a new pair of earbuds for work, my old ones died.

Fantastic Belgian pale ale! Haven't had this in 4 years. Flavors of big peach, mango, pineapple, apricot, grapfruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, clove, and light banana/bubblegum/pine; with balanced honey, biscuity malts; herbal, floral, grassy hops; and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness; light pine/grassy bitterness, and yeast tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Bready/grainy malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing spicy/carbonated dryness. Refreshingly drinkable, 6.8%. Wow, I will definitely be picking this up again. Awesome balance of juicy hop/yeast flavors; with a nice bready malt backbone. Spot on for the style, aside from the use of American hops.

Finishing off the gift pack. This is amazing! Flavors of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, nuttiness, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, and toasted oak; with lighter notes of molasses, leather, tobacco, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, and herbal hops. Light herbal bitterness and boubon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a fantastic creamy, silky, velvety, rich mouthfeel from the barrel. Slight sticky hops, chalky roast, oak tannins, and drying. Dangerously smooth, mildly warming 11.5%, zero barrel booze. Feels a bit more impressive than I remember when I reviewed it 2.5 years ago, less fruity than I recall. Fantastic well rounded style complexities. Rich dark/bready English malts, perfect barrel integration, and well restrained yeast fruitiness. Did not see the base beer around yet this year, would definitely like to get a pack.

This is insane! Amazing lasting head retention and thick lacing the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, pecan, fudge, marshmallow, biscuit, toasted dark bread, caramel, toffee, molasses, vanilla, cream, and light smoke/charcoal. Light roast/char and herbal hop bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Light slickness, chalky roast, and sticky hops. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness; never acrid/astringent. Super smooth, minimal warming 11%. Glad these are in cans now, l am loading up on more soon. This meets and even surpasses what I remember when I reviewed it in 2016. Pretty much identical to the one brewed in Europe at the time, but this one is a bit less bitter on the roast. Phenomenal.

Awesome black IPA! Grabbed this yesterday along with a my half case of Gnarlywine. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, light coffee/smoke malts; with some floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light chalky roast and resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, never acrid/astringent. Extremely smooth, minimal warming 8.2%. Have not had this since 2015. Hope it comes back in 6 packs eventually. This is spot on stuff. Juicy/bright C hops with balanced debittered black malts. Lagunitas never disappoints.

    This one . . .

Dark brownish black color with red-gold highlights at the edges and good tan cap.

Aroma is not as piney forward as I thought it would be, somewhat muted, like a conifer forest with a sharp, clean, light pine resin scent in the air. The supporting malt base is darkly toffeeish with hints of cocoa.

Taste on entry is malt forward with a roasted malt assertiveness that finds the border between richness and bitterness. Not as sweet as the scent implies, rather dry actually, with hops appearing like a hard lacquer finish on fine wood. I was surprised again by the hops which at 73 IBU I thought would be more dominate but they're not and that works out for the better because it's hard to get a balance between strongly roasted malt and strongly flavored hops. This beer does and does it well.

I like your style. The shopping is complete early, so you can focus on more important things, like drinking beer.

A sure sign that spring is on its way. I saw this yesterday when I was picking up some other stuff and said to myself, "Ah, this is out already?" It is on the list for my next purchase. How is it this year? Seems pretty consistent from year to year.
