Tried all 3 Bruesicles on tap today - Guava, PiPO and Rita. As a beer it's an interesting novelty, as a juice it's okay. I can't imagine drinking more than 8oz or so.

I think I'd rather have a Berliner with woodruff syrup.

Didn't try the guava and I don't like margaritas, but the bruesicle from a few weeks ago was on par with joose from the answer. I'd definitely trade a berliner for bruesicle, for sure. Woodruff syrup?

    Ha!

You're correct - 2017 vessels can be used for fills this year. In fact, we'll fill quite a few types of 32-oz. vessels for Society exclusive fills (or half-fills of full growler fill options). The vessel just has to be clean, clearly labeled, hold a good seal, fit under our tap lines, and free of tape/other brewery branding.

BT Port 2017 is back up for HS and RS, though it increased from 34.99 (on 12/4/17 as part of our allocations) to 39.99.

Question, so the new email says bottles currently on sale are 15% off. Does that mean 15% on top of the 15% we already we get? If not, this isn't much of a sale.

WTF? Gonna have to verify this. So we're just getting access to them again? it's not a "sale" then?

Bruery sales mostly refer to access to beer, not the price.

And Vindictive II which came out before BT Port stays the same price.

This is because they took the 2017 surplus, removed the caps, filled with a little bit of water (explaining the .1% drop in abv) to compensate for the portion that evaporated, and recapped. Legend has it that if you peel off the 2018 label, there is a 2017 label behind it.

Disclaimer: I don't want a defamation suit against me. This is a joke.

Nice catch - that was in error. We've corrected the price online. Anyone who already purchased will receive the corrected price.

It's access. The bottle prices online right now are the same as they were when released in 2017. No archive pricing is in effect as part of this sale to new members.

Was Yount supposed to be stored uprigth or laying down? I know this was answered in the 2017 thread but I cannot find it.

That's how we're storing them. On their side works too.

Corked bottles like Yount are meant to be stored on their side. To maximize a cork's seal, the cork needs to expand. A moist cork expands. A dry cork shrinks. Corks are beneficial because they are porous and allow oxygen to pass through the cork and make contact with the wine. Oxygen is a "Frenemy" to wine and there is a love/hate relationship. Too much oxygen and you end up with vinegar, but proper exposure to the right amount of oxygen allows for the right amount pf oxidation during aging in that 1. it bring on additional flavors that are wanted and 2. it prevents off flavors that could arise during anaerobic conditions (when there is a closed environment and air does not penetrate a bottle).

Question: When the waiter puts corks on the dinner table, why do we smell the cork?

    Answer: YOU DON'T
. When your buddy smells the cork, you swiftly swat it out of their hands. A waiter puts the cork on the table so you can look at and feel the cork. Look at the crystals that have built up on the side of the cork touching the wine to look for tartrate crystals which can evidence the temperature your wine was stored at (often, more crystals = stored at colder temperatures)... squeeze the cork with your fingers to see if it is spongy/stiff.... and look at how far the moisture has traveled up the cork to determine whether wine has made its way all the way up and out of the bottle evidencing a possible storage issue.

Is Yount drinking well now or do folks recommend letting is sit awhile like with fresh BT?

While I have no insight into how Yount will age (though I would guess it would do so differently than BT since it's so wine-heavy), I opened one in late December and thought it was quite good.
