There must be very little in there. I think Brad said it's heavy on Matriarch, which I think comes through nicely with the sweetness of the barleywines and skipping stone.

Can I volunteer to provide feedback when coming up with next year's blend? You don't even have to pay me. I'd do it pro bono.

Had my first bad Jackie Os beer last night. I had brought back some Maple from the anniversary party and it was awful. My wife described the taste as "flat coke". The Maple Vanilla's i got were great but I hope the last few Maples I have aren't similar.

That's really unfortunate. I seem to recall someone else had a similar experience with Black Maple awhile back in this thread. I think @beace might be able to comment if they have heard of any similar isolated incidents?

2017 continues to somehow keep kicking me in the balls. Glad 2018 is here.

@beace I appreciate the forward thought and I'm sure this was very difficult for you to do.

None of those beers I have opened yet, have had any signs of infection, but I will certainly pound them all now.

What about all of the releases from the Anniversary Party? What changes were made to the process that should give us confidence in these beers?

I am not means suggesting that I want to exchange them, in fact, I'm not going to exchange any of them, because it's not worth a drive out to Athens for me. Just purely curious.

    Thanks!

The link in the post above yours answers this in quite a bit of detail.

In the beers that were released at the Anniversary Party, that were bottled last year?

The new bottling line is coming in February, I don't see anything in that article that tells me that they have fixed anything with their current process.

Please direct all questions to [email protected], I have had questions coming at me from many angles for weeks now. We are trying to develop a more efficient way to field all concerns, questions, and requests. Thank you.

Please PM me with anything you find out. I'm in the same boat. 12+ bottles I bought are going out to friends in western KY but am worried about the quality in the bottles now.

@beace I got replacement bottles quickly and without problems (s/o to Allison). Thanks for making the process so easy on the consumer; I'm sure it's been a nightmare of logistics on the brewery side.

Shit happens. Sounds like improvements are being made where needed.

I cracked open a Black Mask last night, sits in my "cellar" under my basement steps at around 65*F. Had a hint of infection, but not enough to ruin my experience.

I"m not planning on being in Athens for a while, so I am just pounding these out for the next couple weeks.

I actually made sure to drink my BBCV's ASAP after my bad luck with the other bottles. Side note, I liked BBCV a lot more this year, way less heat from the alcohol, maybe hidden better because they upped the adjuncts?
