    Good morning BAs!

    Today's New Breakfast Beer is:

A passable Oud Bruin, but the price point is too high for the quality.

First time with this BA beauty:

Well balanced flavors - the cocoa, bourbon and vanilla all are present and accounted for in a pleasing way. The barrel woodeness plus the rye aspect is a bit drying for me, yet everything else about this big porter is exceptional.

I dropped my iPhone 6 in its charger the other night and I’m typing through a shattered screen. As I have no computer and only use this device to hang out with youse guys, I’m off to the repair store later today; maybe some beer shopping will ensue while I’m out? Cheers breakfast BAs!

I’ve got to head out in a bit, so no formal review, but I hand write in my log every beer (and have done s for years) and could write one up later today when my phone is fixed. My rating:

As you can see, I like this beer!

I'm not sure what a "Double Pale Ale" is supposed to be, but this was still pretty nice, considering the bottle was kinda old.

I picked up Sierra Nevada's new Experimental Hop Pack yesterday, so I am going to drink through them today. All the IPAs are canned 1/8, the pilsner is from 1/5, so a little over two weeks old. Starting with the IPA. Wow! I really like this. A nice change of pace from most IPAs. It tastes like a hoppy pilsner, herbal spicy hops. Great aroma! Here we go!

A stronger malt presence in this one. The sweet malts and and spicy hops blend together nicely. I appreciate the fact that the malt comes off as sweet, but not grainy.

Working my way through the six pack . . .

Clear, shimmering light gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of subtle malt and light floral, spicy hops.

Taste on entry is a subtle malt core surrounded by floral hops with just a taste of the garden, which is to say freshly picked but as yet unwashed product that contains still a hint of the earth. Hoppiness builds a bit more firmly as we approach the finish and lingers in the aftertaste.

Done with classes for the day, the pup has a vet's appointment at 3:00, she may end up getting a "calming chew" before we leave. Me? This new IPA from Red Hare Brewing - Soft J.

Another GA take on the NE style, a lot of citrus on the nose, some astringency. Taste is very citrus forward, oranges, sweet mandarins, grapefruit notes. Not getting a huge amount of bitterness, but a smooth mouthfeel. As it warms a little herbal notes are coming through. If this had a little bit more dry hop character I'd be happy. But overall probably one of the better beers I've had from Red Hare.

    Cheers all!
