With the unfortunate news that Smuttynose is for sale, I've been thinking about my favorite Smutty beers and a lot of fond memories of visiting and drinking Smutty over the years. I'm hoping that someone can breathe new life into Smuttynose and keep the brand and brewery going, but I also wanted to start a thread for folks to share their favorite Smuttynose beers and memories.

In the 12 years since I turned 21, I can't think of a beer I've drank nearly as much of as Smuttynose's Finestkind IPA. Growing up in New Hampshire, I was delighted to get a 6-pack of what was then just called Smuttynose IPA for my 21st birthday. While I've preferred a range of styles and breweries since that time, Smuttynose has been a consistent favorite.

In addition to Finestkind, I've always loved Shoals Pale Ale, with its biscuity notes, and I think it remains one of the best American-made English-style pale ales. Robust Porter is still my favorite in the style. And every winter, I look forward to Single Digit Dubbel.

I visited several breweries during my first trip to Brooklyn this past summer, but a pour of vintage (I want to say 2013) Smutty Wheat Wine was my favorite beer of the trip.

Whether drinking a Finestkind at a Fisher Cats game in Manchester, chatting with Paul Barber of the Finestkind logo at a beer fest, starting a Saturday morning in Portsmouth with a tour of the old Heritage Ave brewery, or just sharing a 6-pack of Old Brown Dog with friends, I don't think there's any brewery I have fonder memories of.

I really hope Smuttynose live ons.

My favorite quickly became the Robust Porter. I think maybe time passed them by, both stylistically and in packaging, but that beer stood the test of time.

I still enjoy a diacetyl bomb every now and again. So most any Smutty will do, on occasion.
Those occasions became less and less, and perhaps it's not just me. The results we inevitable.

    I am being serious.
    Cheers.

Smuttynose Baltic Porter is, to me, the gold standard for the style. I gave a case of it to each of my groomsmen.

I haven't consumed as much of it in recent years, but Finest Kind is probably still the beer I've consumed more than any other in my drinking career.

Maybe you were thinking of Shipyard?

Robust Porter was probably my favorite of their regular lineup along with finestkind.

Might have to see if I can still find some of their Baltic Porter.

The Vundabar German Pilsner is fantastic and the Finest Kind IPA is great too. I hope to see Smuttynose keep going.

Simple, low-alcohol saisons seemed hard to find for a long time, so I was stoked Smutty started distributing Hayseed. Fine hot-weather brew.

I've never had a Smutty butter bomb. Are you extra sensitive to diacetyl?

In terms of most of any beer I've consumed the most of, I'm not sure if Finestkind is top 5, but it's probably pretty close. I just saw my package store had relatively fresh 12 packs (12/27/17). I will probably grab some at some point.

Finestkind is a long time favorite and I still drink them fairly often. Never been disappointed by anything from them, always high quality. Hope things work out.

Really old brown dog will always have a special place in my heart. My first go-to six pack.

Anybody know if Hugs n' Rainbows is going to be released? It's on their calendar for ... right now but no word on a release.

Yes but don't necessarily always dislike diacetyl.
And to the point, Smutty has gotten so far from my life! Also telling. While Shipyard has absolutely disappeared. When you get as old and senile as me. Experienced?

Not to mention Geary's and Middle Ages.
    Cheers.

Those Julio's exclusive Whiskey Barrel-Aged Really Old Brown Dogs, the regular and the vanilla/cinnamon variant. Those were insanely good, and about $9/bomber last time I picked one up.
