I am only posting the article because I have read a lot of people who believe its just a "trend" or hope it goes away. Cheers to drinking NE style IPAs in 2018 and beyond. Cheers.

    From the article:

NEIPAs aren’t just a fad. A popular refrain amongst the brewers and writers that dislike NEIPA (and are often outspoken about their views on social media) is that it’s just a fad primed for a quick fall.

    and

There is plenty of room to experiment within the style: NEIPAs are hoppy beers, so most of the experimentation comes from using different hop regimens. Brewers have access to a huge number of hop varieties and combinations, with more new and experimental hops coming onto the market each year.

    and

When made correctly NEIPAs are delicious. There is a reason that the most highly respected NEIPAs are ranked as some of the best beers in the world. When the style is done right the beers are incredible, easily the best way to coax maximum flavor and aroma out of popular new varieties of hops.

It's a very enjoyable style for sure and not one that is going away any time soon. That being said though, I still tend to favor a nice pilsner or something different rather than a second or third NEIPA. They just don't have the same level of drinkability so they're usually one-n-done type beers for me (yes, even those delicious DDH Trilliums). It's also one of those styles that are so popular today that many breweries (who shall respectfully remain unnamed) are just looking to cash in on the craze and therefore release an average or sub-par hazy APA. That's just my opinion though. Cheers!

If you mean dominate in that a very tiny minority of vocal beer nerds agree and are willing to pay a lot more for, then I guess it makes a valid point

I'm still gonna make the drive to Tree House next time I'm in Connecticut, and I'd be willing to bet there will be a huge line when I do. NEIPA's are going nowhere, people just need to accept it.

I love 'em. Hopefully they're here to stay. Still love the west coast hop bombs as well. Its good to alternate between the both

Only beer nerds like NEIPAs? Didn't know that. The reason I posted the article is people seem to get upset with people for liking hazy IPAs. Just don't understand that. I personally love almost any style of beer, to include hazy IPAs, but I don't get upset when people like other styles better.

    Also

    from the article:
Bigger craft brewers are hopping on the bandwagon. The majority of popular NEIPAs are produced by small breweries and sold directly to consumers within days of canning. That is changing this year. Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams, two of the biggest craft breweries in the US have each put out a hazy IPA in the last few months and many other medium to large craft outfits are following suit. I would be shocked if one of the labels in the AB-InBev line doesn’t jump into the fray as the first macro NEIPA. These new beers, backed by widespread distribution, will make the NEIPA style available to the masses who pick up six packs at the grocery store instead of waiting in lines at small breweries on can release days. It will be interesting to see what the quality of these new beers are, especially with the notoriously short shelf life attributed to the style, but at the very least they should be a nice introduction for people who still associate IPA with aggressive bitterness.

Saying that the newest craft beer trend is not going anywhere, when craft beer is full of trends that have come and gone, is adorable.

Why do so many beer geeks seem to hate on NEIPA? Am I missing something? I actually can't think of a beer style, or music style, or any hobby style that I give the slightest shit whether other folks like it or don't. Why the NEIPA hate from some folks? My guess is none of these haters will have the guts or capability to explain themselves, but it would be nice if they did.

    Thank you!

Probably because it's either a cool thing to follow a trend or it's cool to hate on it.

While I like the style very much, I have a lot of disdain for a lot of the people who like it, as many of them think that hazy beer, especially hazy hoppy beer, is the only good beer.

I do love NEIPA's, but I love basically all styles. The only thing that I really hope is a fad is waiting on line.... #linelife #hazeboyz

Huh, so these hazebros robbed your house? ***** your relatives? Stole your car? Insulted you? I mean what did they do? Obviously it can't be only that they offend your sensibilities, right? I mean that would be silly, right?

I thought the sour/gose phase would fizzle out. I also thought karaoke was going to die out in the 80s (wish it would have)

Yeah, I don't really get it either. Perhaps it's because the hype within the community and, perhaps to those "haters", the hype didn't really live up to the drinkers expectations? Maybe they hate people w/ neckbeards & cargo shorts? I really have no idea; some people just really enjoy complaining about things that aren't a big deal (like complaining about some people who don't enjoy a certain style:laughing::wink:).

I don't hate on them at all, and I appreciate innovation and evolution in brewing. Hell, I even appreciate trends to a certain extent. Modern American craft beer is all about that. From what I have observed after joining BA, is that most people have an issue with three letters found in the NEIPA moniker. Tacking on NE in front of those three letters worked for some by letting them be recognized as a sub-style, but some people are still hung up on those three letters.

It doesn't take guts, just civil discussion on both sides (there are extreme NEIPA fanatics also).
I like many styles of beer. I like variety when I visit a taproom or brewery. When this beer variation (I refuse to call it a 'style') is over-represented in a taproom or brewery's lineup, and especially when it causes a brewery to forego even offering other styles like porter and brown, I do not like it. At all.

It should also be said that not all of those "hazebro" breweries have that issue. I go to Trillium about once a month or so and I've only seen a line once (and it was only about a 15-20 minute wait). I'm usually in and out with a case of cans in under 5 mins
