Listen to the "Beer w/ Charlie Todd" episode of the High and Mighty podcast. Then I think you may begin to understand. :beers:

Yeah it seems like people want it both ways with NEIPA's. They initially got the clout from using the IPA name and market, but now want to be their separate entity since they're popular. Seems like bs to me!

I knew these things were going to be a huge hit long term when I gave my wife a NEIPA for the first time full well knowing she hates IPAs and she said, "Yea, I like this. What kind of beer is this?"

It's space that could used for better beer.

That makes sense. I guess just because I have more styles available than ever, doesn't mean everyone does. Which styles are you unable to get, and which of the NEIPA flooding your market do you blame most?

With 400-ish breweries in my state, and a dozen just in my small city, there is no style I can't get. One brewery in my town sort of 'focuses" on AOAs, but also makes great Saisons, Stouts, and other things. A couple other breweries will can off the occasional batch of Murkbombs, and they generally sell very quickly. Obviously, folks like 'em, and I try every new beer I can, so, I've tried a fair number of these Mudders.

Let's come up with another name for these things, and stop the diminishment of actual IPAs. But, the brewers who brew beers don't want a new name, because the term IPA sells beer. Call 'em CloudJoose, and let's see where sales go.

As both the article and some responses in this thread have noted, NEIPAs are extraordinarily accessible beers. For that reason, I think the substyle soon will take its place in the pantheon of beginner craft beer styles, along with golden ales, cream ales, wheat ales, generic fruit beers, etc. It seems inevitable that, rightly or wrongly, NEIPAs will lose cachet among beer geeks if only because it's hard to look cool on Untappd when you're giving 5 bottle caps to your friend's mom's favorite beer. So I say the NEIPA is here to stay from a commercial standpoint but has a short shelf life for continued ratings dominance.

Agreed, I did go to Trillium once, when they still only had bombers lol. Was in and out with a case in 10 minutes. For the record- I used to wait in lines, but those days are over for me if it's a local brewery in my area. So many good options available.

And then people hate on your app and find all other sorts of things to complain about in the six point forum lolol.

What is the next 'hot' style (or sub-style) for you?

Is it Quads with zero dark dried fruit flavors!?!

    Cheers!

I haven't read any further after reading this, and I don't think I have to. Absolutely spot on, especially with the sub par cash in comment. I think people are finally starting to realize there is a lot of stuff out there that quite honestly isn't that good and not worth the $4 plus price tag. Speaking only for myself, I'm done spending that kind of money on bandwagon beers. I think it's safe to say the top beers in this category have safely cemented their place and worth paying for. Every other "next big thing "...... No thanks, I'll pass

Thank you, that is very kind of you. I appreciate your point of view as well. Glad folks like you and I can have just as much fun with a ~$1 beer as we would with a ~$5 beer. I'm willing to pay the premium if the quality is there but if it's not then what's the point ? Cheers!

I want to be on the record as not giving a flying fish about this stupid argument. Too many hackles, not enough thought.
