Ha. Sure, if you say so. There’s complaints about any BCBS for the most irrelevant reasons, so we know there would be complaining if they bottled more in April.

I’m not saying they’d be valid complaints, but there definitely would be some complaining.

Has anyone checked in with the Detroit tap room recently? The tap list on-line and on the app haven't been updated since Tuesday at open and the cellar raid officially started on Wednesday....correct? Also the events page hasn't been created yet. I really don't want to have to drive to Grand Rapids, but....

Cellar Raid is GR only...for now.

I also got word back from Founders. They told me it is the same batch, just bottled at a different time. Did not sound like that meant any more barrel time though.

At the end of the day I don't really care, because it's gonna take taste great either way. My friend was looking for a '16 KBS for a vertical at a tasting event and I just wanted to make sure I was bringing a "true" '16 KBS as to not throw things off.

DKML is the "special" bottle sale added today. *FART NOISE*. They are really crapping out this year on "special" bottles. Last year they had bottles of 5 year old Bolt Cutter and vintage KBS cases going back to 2014.

DKML’s still on store shelves in certain spots!

...and if it's not, it's probably b/c the store sent it back.

In fact, those rejected bottles may be the ones for sale at Founders now!!

I’m pretty sure this was for our friends in Ohio. In 2016 they still had a cap and were not able to sell beers over 12%ABV, thus the 11.9% version. The Ohio cap has now been lifted...

I agree that it's been a bit of a letdown. They hardly changed the taplist over the course of the event at all. Last year we got Nitro KBS, KBS Blast, Blushing Monk, more years of KBS, actually original things like BA Honeystuff.
Not so much this year. A lot of the BA stuff they have on now was already available at the taproom throughout the year and the only "vintage" beers are 16 and 17 KBS and Imperial Stout.

I hardly consider anything they did as worthy of an annual event named "cellar raid." Nearly identical taplist for 4 straight days. Only 3 "specialty" beers were new. The rest that were tapped had already been on draft recently. Only bottles that were sold that aren't available locally (with a little searching) was the '16 KBS. And most local people have KBS coming out of their ears.

I could set my watch by the reliability of a BA thread about Founders devolving into complaining. :joy:

If you got a taproom with a taplist that is better than stated below, by all means, you should stay away from Founders.

CBS, KBS, Tank Bender, BA Devil Dancer, BA Imperial Stout, Frootwood, BA Beer City IPA, Doom, BA Sumatra, BA Imperial Lime Gose, BA Curmudgeon, Backwoods, BranDankulous, DKML, Lizard, BA Rum Hops n Thang.

And those were just the barrel aged beers. Even if you eliminated the barrel aged beers from Cellar Raid, Founders taplist is still better than at least 95 out of 100 taprooms out there.

I went to Cellar Raid on Saturday and had a fucking great time. I tried BA Imperial Stout for the first time and it was great. GHA IPA is a winner and needs to be bottled immediately. I kick myself now for not taking a growler home. But my favorite beer of the day wasn't even on the taplist. They had a firkin of Porter with Frangelica Coffee and it was incredible!

Founders Cellar Raid was an out of the park home run.

I feel like inside the park home runs are a bigger deal, personally.

They're more interesting, but are they more impressive?

As a very slow runner, I find them incredibly impressive.

Then again, as a weakling, I guess an out of the park home run is also incredibly impressive.

I better open up a stout & ruminate on this...

Inside the park home run = Exciting

I thought that firkin was the best of the day too, I was sitting right in front of where they tapped it and was surprised how little they were actually selling. I also liked the Devil went down to Kentucky

Didn’t want to start a new thread on the KBS release tickets as apparently NO ONE CARES!

Tickets have been on sale for over an hour and all days are still available for the Grand Rapids release (Haven’t checked Detroit’s availability). That is a huge difference from all previous years when ticket were scooped up within seconds.

Everyone's planning to pick up their bottles at the 2019 Cellar Raid instead? Hey-oh!
