I grew up in Vermont, I dream of a beer that tastes straight out of the tree? What's the best you've had? Being in Virginia now I hope your recommendation is something I can get my hands on now, but any suggestions are welcome. Cheers.

Curmudgeons better half, is the best i've had by a wide margin, and i've tracked down a lot of them. (lawsons, Bruery, DFH, CBS, etc)

Founder's Black Biscuit by a huge fucking margin

but by the sounds of it, you'd probably like Lawson's Maple Trippel.... just skip over his Maple Fayston stout and its variants. little to no maple detectable in those.

I agree with the Funky Buddha but haven't had Nemesis. Love CBS and Better Half! Funky doesn't bottle and CBS is tough to get! Better Half could be traded for some Alewerks or Hardywood stuff probably...

Nemesis 2009 should not be too difficult to obtain, although the last bottle I had has fallen off a bit from when it was more fresh. The FB Maple Bacon Coffee Porter was bottled, but EXTREMELY hard to obtain. I was lucky enough to have a good friend share his bottle with me.

They give hand filled bottles to their sniffer members as a thank you for supporting them, but they don't sell them because they don't have the permits to and are super small at 1.5 barrels. They are the smallest brewery in Florida and brew in an area the size of a kitchen. But awesome! Was trying to help the OP not get hyped up about a quite difficult bottle to obtain. Bottles of it probably number less then 50. Will rep Funky every day! Some of the best beers I've ever had!

Dieu Du Ciel's Equinoxe du Printemps (Spring Equinox). Maple Scotch Ale? Yes please. The bourbon barrel version is delicious too.
