So stoked to pick up bottles this weekend at a leisurely pace :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

I was lucky enough to try an early version of the blueberry beer a few months ago and it was already very tasty.

It's gonna be great. I'm probably hoping in vain that there will be tasters there during bottle pickup.

Not planning on tasters, mostly want to just get people their bottles so that people don't have to wait. We'll do tours and tastings at some point so that you can come in and try new shit or things you missed and get an actual tour of the place and shoot the shit.

Are there going to be any bottles available to purchase/pick up this weekend for those that aren't in Oakworks?

No, this first batch is just for members, but I thought I read somewhere that there will be stuff for non-members sometime in the Spring. Can't find it now so don't hold Adam to that.

    Not this weekend.

BUT... I am setting aside a small amount of some bottles so that I can put together at least a minimal public release in the spring. It'll be online and the email will go out to folks who are on the reserve list, which if you are on the mailing list you have heard about.

I don't like social media much, so I only use instagram, and the main method of communication for Floodland is the mailing list. You can sign up for it at floodland brewing dot com. There will be more public releases with more bottles in the summer, a lot of beers from the 2017 fruit harvest just went into bottles, so those will be ready in 5-6 months or so.

Haven't opened any yet, but all the bottles, glasses, and bags look phenomenal. Huge, HUGE fan of not waiting in line. Worth every penny. Way to go, Adam and friends!!!

My daughter accompanied me on what the easiest beer release ever. Great job, Adam. I hope you have continued success.

How lovely and reassuring it is to see and hear hard evidence of the success of a muse who courageously chose to follow his own vision.

Here's a tribute to him, and one of his own heroes, on this special day. Surely, it's one of many more to come...

There's an article in The Stranger about this release:
Adam Paysse Is Releasing the First Beers from His Much Anticipated Floodland Brewing, and I Got to Try Them

Prior to picking up my bottles today, I was reading the old newsletters and articles and noticed the bit about the intention to make a softer beer. Immediately wondered the same thing, knowing these were all fruit beers and how people go crazy over fruit bombs.

Joining a club for a brewery that had never released a single beer, I had no expectations. I just assumed Adam would brew whatever he felt like and I was along for the ride. Only had Protection Spells so far, but if this is indicative of what Adam likes to brew, there will be no complaints on my end.

The article contains Adam's response to the concern, as well as this great quote:

That quote from Lester Black, who wrote that article, is hilarious (I didn't say the thing about rose water being metal, that was his take). Lester put a lot of time into talking to me multiple times, and visiting the brewery on several occasions in spite of me being mostly uninterested in having anyone write more about me and having a difficult schedule. Seeing someone who put that much work into finding out what I was doing before drawing his own conclusions and writing a piece that avoided the lazy cliches of click-bait was really refreshing.

The quote from me at the end of the article about people being pissed was in the context of talking about the beers not being fruit bombs and definitely not necessarily "sour beers" in the kind of modern american face ripper style.

Haven't tried my bottles yet but that was the best release I've been to in forever. Walked in around 12:05 and there was only one person picking up in front of me. Perfect.

How stoned and/or contemplative get you get about it?

Getting stoned and contemplative is one of my favorite things to do with new beer/breweries. It’s not usually in solitary, but I was feeling especially anti-social this past weekend so I had some fun with it.

I got pretty ripped on some strawberry deisel, paired it with Ariel Pink’s weird but great record ‘pom pom’, and enjoyed paying attention to the subtleties of the unique cherry flavors.

    10/10 would do again
