Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Should be another nice day, got a solid layer of snow down yesterday. Another normal day with my bottle returns and laundry as usual. Got a massive new beer haul yesterday afternoon, found a ton of stuff I have been wanting to try. Will be busy for a while again.

Amazing DIPA. Flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread, light honey/caramel malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Insanely drinkable, never overly aggressive. Extremely dank and vibrant hops; with a nice solid malt backbone. One of the most refreshingly drinkable DIPAs I've ever had. Simcoe, Citra, and Centennial hops. Glad I grabbed an extra 4 pack when I was in Ohio last month. This is still tasting insane at 2 months old.

2015 is tasting insane as usual. Flavors of caramel, raisin, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, and toasted oak; with some lighter notes of molasses, vanilla, and coconut. Light balancing bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish against the sweetness. Minimal warming ABV or barrel booziness. Very smooth sipping; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and slightly slick/syrupy full body mouthfeel that is amazing. Touch of drying bourbon/oak tannins. Love this the most after at least 1 year of age to smooth out the boozy barrel notes. Perfectly balanced. Down to my last 4 pack of this vintage, but already grabbed some 2016 recently. Glad that this just sits on the shelf, one of my favorite cellar beers ever. I finally had Cinnsanity recently, and I think it is just as impressive. Also updated my review for this recently, been trying to so with a lot of my older reviews.

Incredible as expected. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, coconut, cream, toasted oak, brown sugar, and dark bread; with lighter notes of molasses, rum raisin, fig, date, cherries, licorice, smoke, and charcoal. Increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light roast/char bitterness and rum/oak spice on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied. Very creamy/silky and lightly slick; with light touches of chalky roast and oak tannins. Slightly increasing bitter roast and tannic oak dryness. Never acrid/astringent. Incredible balance of the rum barrel and base stout. Pleasantly warming, but not boozy finish. Dangerously smooth sipper. Amazing all around. Glad I was able to score more than 1 this year. Still have to review the regular Whiskey barrel Noir yet. Prairie imperial stouts rarely disappoint, very top tier stuff. Vanilla Noir is my top rated beer, which is tied with BA Bomb. Glad I was able to get more Vanilla Noir this year too.

Amazing this year as expected! Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, brownie batter, marshmallow, vanilla, caramel, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, smoke, charcoal, raisin, fig, cherry, and dates. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spice on the finish. Very full bodied creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel; some light slickness, chalky roast, and barrel tannins. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter char and bourbon/oak tannin. Very smooth sipper, mildly warming 12.9%, zero barrel booze. Definitely a step up from the base beer on complexity, super rich. Classic RIS flavors with awesome barrel presence; without being overly tannic, drying, or boozy. Absolutely love the marshmallow/fudge brownie notes that come from the barrel aging. Glad I was able to find a few this year. Always worth the price.

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm not a big NFL fan, and being in Germany makes it a bit difficult to watch the game anyway. Give me an NHL, NBA, MLS, college hoops, or even college football game and I'll be all over it. Anyway, enjoying this for the first time. Cheers!

Having this pause that refreshes . . .

Taste on entry is light yet pleasantly malty without the harsher edges of some AALs, rather a somewhat smoother sensation with a bit of spicy hops thrown in.

This beer reminds me of Falstaff the way it was brewed back in the 60s, which was somewhat lighter and more flowery than the other mainstays of the day like Schlitz, Miller or Bud. The brand has been around since 1864, under different ownerships, and I don't know if this present version is close to the original or a modern interpretation, whichever it's a good take on those older styles.
