So reward the alcoholics. Cool. I'm only half kidding.

Sorry, I don't feel like I should have a 50% less chance of getting great beer just because I don't drink a ton of beer, let alone a ton of beer from the same brewery.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but if I'm reading the release details right Henna b3 will be on tap starting Friday the 16th but only those with tickets will be able to try it until Monday the 26th at open, since the last window closes Sunday the 25th at 11pm?

This thread was the most entertaining moment of my day...by a lot. Well done. For someone who is not on Facebook, it sure is the best.

Congrats to everyone who scored a ticket! I forgot, and I only had one window that would work anyways. So we move on.

    You're doing it wrong.

Please complain and proclaim that you'll never patronize More again.

Because none of the people in line for batch 1 & 2 were alcoholics...

Yes, but in the old system you were giving up 50 spots to the guys who got there 2 hours before you then let their mules jump in...

Fun trivia fact, this sort of reward system is illegal in Illinois. Nothing involving the amount of drinks consumed or purchased can legally be tied to any reward of any sort because the ILCC interprets that as a "drinking game" that encourages consumption of alcohol. I know what you're thinking, we all know about those places who give you a free shirt, or your name on the wall after drinking through a list of crappy pseudo-craft and 9-month old bottles of export... but in the last 10-12 months, I've seen a number of warnings and actual tickets written for this violation. An example, a local pizza place set up a bingo system where you picked a scorecard that had all of their taps on it, and each time you ordered a pint, you got a marker on your card, up to two pints a visit. Get a bingo, get a free pizza... bingo, they got a ticket. Another example, in our taproom, we used to select a local charity and then for that month, on a certain day of the week, every pint purchased would add a dollar to our donation to that charity at the end. We got a warning, "that's a drinking contest".

I had my first opportunity to stop at More for dinner this last weekend. Great haze, good food, and they were nice to my 6-year old, will definitely stop again when I have the chance.

I think it’d be cool if More just held back a “handful” of bottles and just released them 10-15 at a time when they notice their best customers are there. Then they ensure their loyal folks get a crack are getting a bottle, and some lucky customers there at the same time might get a chance as well. I guarantee the servers and bartenders know who their true loyal customers are, so could probably make something like that work (and avoid the drinking game/loyalty program noted above).

Everyone went on a noon and there were more people than tickets. Even if there were 1000 tickets and 1001 people on at noon, that is an instant sell out.

There are no “bots” going for beer tickets because there is no secondary for tickets. Ticket bot users only care about tickets that can be resold through stubhub/TM verified. Not ID required $40 tickets to a beer release in villa park.

People really have no concept of how ticketing works.

Interesting because I know of quite a few bottle shops have rewards point programs that would seem to trip that. Maybe if it’s to go sales that’s ok, but on sight isn’t?

I'm surprised breweries don't do live auctions for bottle releases. That would be a ton of fun for all involved.

I ran ticketing for events of all sizes for 3 years. I’ve shut down my fair share of bot purchases/ticket mules. Not to mention the people that flat out tell you that they’ll give you a few thousand bucks if you let them buy blocks of tickets. There is no shame in the ticket scalping “community” and they almost always get what they want. But it’s not for single ticket events that require a second, illegal sale of beer for a couple hundred bucks. They want blocks of front section tickets to U2 that they can make 2-3k each on.

Yeah this would be super cool.

A husband and wife come into More 4 times in 2 weeks. The waitress walks over...

Waitress: "Hi sir, you've been coming here a lot lately."
Husband: "Yeah, the food is great, the beer is alright, service is awesome. I really like it here."
Waitress: "Well, would you be interested in a bottle of Henna batch 3?"
    Husband: "A what now?"
Waitress: "Henna, smores? Its like one of our most sought after beers."
Husband: "Oh soooo its like rare? How much?"
    Waitress: "Twenty dollars."
Husband: "For one bottle of beer?"
Waitress: "Well its a smores stout."
Husband: "Oh, I'm not into heavy dark beers. Oh but you know what my brother-in-law Craig is into all these crazy beers. What's that one he ummm..he waits in line for?"
Wife: "Oh oh oh at Binnys? Uhhhhh...Bourbon Country?"
Husband: "Yeah Bourbon Country that's it. You know what I'll take it and sell it to him. I'll charge him 30."

I hear/see the term thrown around a lot but have no clue what a bot does or how it works.
I don't think that I'm a bot & I got a ticket so the answer to your question is no

    Whoa!

Chrome browser at work. Had the app open but chrome reacted faster

Before you bought tickets online, scalpers would give contacts at TM a bunch of money and get blocks of seats. Usually all but a few tickets in the front sections and side stages were sold before tickets went on sale. When scalpers realized they they could take that same money, spend it once on a “bot Network” and have unlimited access to the best tickets, they stopped paying TM people and started using that. Thus began the fun.

Bots don’t really work now like they used to. Back when TM first started selling tickets online and not just a Tower Records and the service desk of Marshall Fields, you could write a basic script that would hammer the system when tickets went on sale to get multiple windows open to buy tickets the millisecond that they went up. For most major concerts TM used to reserve a certain amount of tickets for the in person sales at record stores/TM terminals. Once people figured out you could buy online and not wait in line all night with a bunch of scumballs, the in-person sales went away and TM had to start taking online sales seriously. Not to mention that they weren’t getting kickbacks from scalpers anymore, so the incentive to help them went away. TM implemented a one-instance code that shut down the multi-window bots, who then went and bought a ton of cheap computers and used proxie servers to run the scripts. When that went away with user accounts the scalpers switched over to visa pre-paid cards and indian/Russian people. The Authenticator they use now has rendered that mostly useless. So guess what scalpers do now...

They just go to the venue and pay them money for blocks of tickets reserved for box-office sales.

Literally nothing new under the sun.

Sure. They’re a business. If they think they will make more in the long run selling them that way, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do that. My guess is they will make more money selling them to as many people as possible.
