Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

Have to agree with everyone's assessment of Machu, but for anyone trying it for the first time I'd let it warm a little bit before drinking. Right out of the fridge it was somewhat tropical, no honey, and a surprisingly bitter finish. A little time warming up opened up the sweet honey and passion fruit and balanced it out.

 

For those in the Bellaire area, here's a new Private Stache release, first of the year:

Available at the pub and Short's Mart now. Haven't had it myself, but I've heard good things.

Also, just FYI, here's the Huma refresh and Soft Parade Shandy updated labels with ABV!

 

I like the move to put ABV on the label. I'm glad they're doing it...

I'm currently working my way through a bomber of Ben's Asthma right now. This is some goooood shit if you're in to super big, sweet and boozy imperial stouts.

I haven't had bourbon county stout since they switched to the 500ml format, but assuming it hasn't changed much, this beer is right along those lines. Really well done!

 

It's about thyme is damn good.

 

While I love having It's About Thyme in bottles (it's as good as I remember!) I can't believe how awesome Chief Hopper is. I remember enjoying it on last February's release, but seriously, I'm thinking Chief Hopper deserves legendary-level status.

 

I can agree that my first impression of About Thyme was very enjoyable and my second opportunity to drink Chief Hopper was great but hot damn!, Superfluid is just great. Picked up my last 6’er (which makes a case thus far) from my local supermarket for $8.99 which is an awesome deal and I’m just not done yet.

So I’m plugging Superfluid but also supporting Chief Hopper. Hey Shorts, how about putting Chief Hopper out in 6 packs and see how it goes - I know two people that seem encouraged to buy more Chief Hopper!!

 

Hopper was out in sixers last year.

 

I don’t even remember that! Remember it in the Hoppy Holiday packs and that’s it.....

Hopper was released in March last year, same time as Publican. They were late additions as a part of brews available only for Michigan Independent accounts.

As much as I like Chief Hopper my guess is I drank the whole 6 pack in one setting and the rest is a hazy blur........yeah, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!

 

Lets just all agree that Chief Hopper needs to be in 6 packs on a regular basis!

So Michiganders (and neighbors who want to make the trip) will have almost two months to enjoy this dry, Irish style stout. If anyone has friends who enjoy Guinness, pass them an Uncle Steve's and watch as they enjoy the richer aroma and flavor.

Did Batch 8000 disappear quickly from stores (and the pub), or is it still around? I'm intrigued to try it, and will be heading up to Boyne City from Chicago and would love to get my hands on one.

 

I saw this and was worried I missed it. I don't think it hit yet though after checking Untappd and seeing only 6 check-ins.

 

Yeah, I think you're right. I texted my brother who is back in Warren and he said he hadn't seen it either. I realized I mis-read the post by @Tripel_Threat as well - I thought it was hitting distribution last week, but it looks like it is this week. Hopefully I can come along a bottle.

Anyone know if it's gone from the pub? A detour in that direction is a possibility as well.
