Are you referring to the bottles out for distro this week? I’m getting conflicting reports on how to name this beer that was bottled on 1/17/18 but was clearly made and barreled in 2017.

 

I can verify it was limit 6. *Was* being the key word. They were gone by the time I got there.

I thought it was very good. Super smooth. I got a big hit of cherry. Not a ton of Barrel.

 

What prices are people seeing for BA Darkness? They have some at Lunds & Byerlys downtown. Didn't notice a limit, and they're going for $27/each.

I liked it very smooth with mellow oak and Rye Whiskey notes. '17 Barrel > '16 no where near '15 thou. Sweet mouthfeel and a touch on the thin side for a RIS,

If anyone tries to tell you that it's 2018 BA Darkness, they don't know what they're talking about and like to make things up. How am I so confident that I'm right? I tend to go to the source and look things up:

And to everyone who was enjoying the BA Darkness tappings around Christmas, you were drinking 2016 BA Darkness. Surly didn't silently release the 2017 version to Red Cow a month and a half before releasing to the masses. Sorry, this one always irks me a bit especially when people think their discerning taste buds can tell the differences between years and the age on them without knowing what vintage it is they're drinking.

So this iteration of BA Darkness was aged 3 months, not the 1 month someone claimed? Or am I missing something (or surly mis-reporting)?

 

Surly says at least 3 months, very well could be they just posted videos in December for something to post.

As far as what to call it, I've been going with BA 2017 Darkness instead of 2017 BA Darkness to avoid stupid people arguing about it. Had enough of that last year.

I dont understand why anyone would think its 2018. Darkness always comes out in the fall every year. '17 is '17 .
