La Trappe Bockbier, from tap and in proper glassware. Not bad at all for a hotel beer. It feels like a lucky day
    Cheers!

Moving on to this gem, after inspiration from @Shanex. All I seem to drink these days are big stouts and barley wines. I ain't complaining! Cheers!

Freshness? No date on the can, but I scored some bottles that were branded 26 Jun 2017 (so I assume the cans are the same, or very close)...at 8 months, this is tasting sublime.

This is my fourth bottle and I my palate remains constant. Although this is a quite decadent and stellar barrel-aged beer, the High West-ified from 2014 (22oz) and 2016/2017 are better iterations. Perhaps the use of the coffee in the process and/or the blend of Rye and Bourbon barrels (being largely in favor of the Rye this time around) has affected the flavor profile.

Thankfully, I still have some High West-ified which are still tasting great but this is far from a consolation prize:

It is snowing heavily. After a scary drive home, I'm settled in for the day. Sticking with the stout theme.

An interesting rye porter brewed with some locally sourced coffee...outstanding looks and aroma, a bit odd with the flavor...still a decent beer...

Good afternoon, BA's! About a week ago, I suggested a drinking game based on Chef Michael Smith's Canadian TV show "Chef at Home." The rules were simple: you take a drink every time Chef Michael says "flavor." Seemed like a good idea at the time. As it happens, I tuned in an episode of this the other night and kept track. Now it seems like an even better idea. I finished with a count of 23, and I even had to leave the room once to let the dog out. That works out to more than one occurrence per minute of run time, beating the absolute hell out of waiting for someone on the Antiques Roadshow to say "veneer." Now it's time for a fridge pull: Thirsty Dog Barktoberfest, which I picked up in Columbus in October. If you like a Maerzen with a rich, malty character, you'll love this one.

    Prost!
