I've moved across a variety of regions of the country, and I notice the same thing with this regional forum opposed to the others I've participated in. I think others are correct in assessing that the beer scene up here is more established. Breweries don't rely as much on can/bottle releases and there is less scarcity in the distribution of beers. Maybe it's the concentrated urban areas, or that our beer tourism is more established, but the mega-threads take care of most questions. If you visit some of the other forums you'll see multiple posts a week about "Visiting _____ where should I go?"

Ultimately, we could be talking about local events, tappings, and festivals more. But that seems to be dropping off in the other forums as well.

All that said, this is nice. It's nice to just enjoy beer again. You guys are doing it right and I'm glad to be here.

I appreciate @ElijahSF contributions to this site generally but he is so uninformed on this one. For example, random sample of one for sure but in my past life I entertained and was entertained around the country. Scene: a corporate suite at Saint Louis Cardinals Busch Stadium. Their idea of supplying the suite with "premium" beer was Bud Select. This, long after I was accustomed to craft beer at home.

Its not bad here ..go to BA and its far far worse.
I think generally the new fad buzz over craft beer ( for want of better word) is dying down..it died down here sooner because of the history.
Its more common now so most people really dont thik about going on line to a specific community and getting excited with others over this.
Of course there will always be a minority of freaks like us were the exceitment stays..though at a lower level!
Also explains the success of "untappd" more fitted for the newer generations.

Craft beer isn't a fad, it's evolution. We are still recovering from the effects of Prohibition that sorry excuse for over-reacting to society's problems. Sure we will see enthusiasm for a particular style shift from time-to-time but generally the trend is upward and onward. I just wish it had happened 30 years earlier

I guess the Northwest forum isn't part of Beer Advocate then?

I think we just tend to be more laid back in general. Plus, it's winter. I tend to be less active in general after doing all sorts of anti-snow activities at work. But then again, I live in eastern WA, where winter generally has more of a bite to go with It's bark.
