Reminds me a lot of a Pumpkin Ale, nice spicyness to this. Not bad at all.

Good morning BA, have a great Friday! Have a bit of a snow storm coming in today, so I am working from home just in case it gets really bad.

This was fantastic! Poor head retention and lacing as usual. Bottled just over a year ago. Aromas and flavors of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, vanilla, cream, fudge, brown sugar, maple syrup, almond, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, marshmallow, molasses, licorice, smoke, char, dark fruit, and pepper. Light-moderate bourbon/oak tannin spiciness and light roast/char bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full body. Very creamy/silky malt mouthfeel; light slickness, stickiness, chalky roast, and oak tannins. Mildly increasing bourbon/oak tannin dryness, no cloying sweetness. Lightly increasing alcohol warmth, with mild barrel booze lingering after the finish. After having so many Bruery BA stouts recently, nothing is impressing me as much as Chocolate Rain from 2014. I am definitely going to have to revisit that one soon, I have one in the cellar. This is very similar to the base beer as expected with big levels of fruity/nutty coffee complexity. Great barrel balance and integration as usual; not overly boozy or tannic. A really delicious slow sipper. I have a PB and Thursday coming my way soon. 4.2

Love the can art on that one. It's good to know the beer inside is awesome, too.

Cheers you all and TGIF! Today I have a tripel and I am going to be pairing it with mahi mahi in a Chinese style sauce made with preserved oranges. The tripel is a favorite style of mine because it drinks like a fruity punch. @JackHorzempa the beer reminds me of a waltz. This one is as sneaky as the best of them. It has a bit softer bubble that shows a little of it's sweetness from alcohol in the finish. I am in love with the spicy herbal pepper from these hops as well as a lovely orange and tropical fruit flavor. I would not use green bell pepper with this one as that would be too loud. Szechuan peppercorns for this because they just bite without any hard lasting heat. Not too much garlic, soft on the ginger and see you later BA's!

Feeling pretty good having traded shifts to work last Sunday so I could have today off, now that we're getting hit with a major snowstorm. Drinking Metal Monkey's Asmodeus-a sublimely tasty local barrel aged RIS.

A better shot of the label because, after all, it is Friday, and apparently even this guy knows that means metal.

Everyone's been drinking the barrel aged Victory at Sea lately (myself included). Let's not forget the OG. :grinning:

I only have one more evening of drinking great beer before heading to South America for a couple of weeks, so I figured I would start things off with a bang. A delicious 2003 J.W. Lees Harvest Ale. It's barley wine time! This is spectacular at 15 years of age. Cheers!

Here is my comparison. Fin du monde had a bigger head and a lighter color. The same herbal from hops and the same potential for funk that is not realized. Fin finishes without so much mango or tropical melon fruit as @JackHorzempa's beer and with a few more bubbles. Their bitterness is about the same as his which is balanced and just lasting in the finish to show you spice and pepper. Their clove is a little stronger also adding to the dryness overall. Jack's beer was fruitier and the spice more prominent although I thought the spice character about equal. Jack's beer is fruitier and clearer. I would guess the alcohol in jack's beer about 9% as well. OK. Let's cook! I am infusing some honey and would like to start cooking with hops. Cheers!

Two of the big Heavy Weights absolutely killed it with this beer!

Just may be the best IPA I’ve ever had!

First time with this beast. Have been wanting to try it for a while. I am surprised by how much the rum comes through on the nose. Amazing stuff. Cheers!

Light gold color with white lacing.

Aroma of rich malt and spicy, floral hops.

Taste on entry is malt forward, bready, rich and very flavorful. Hops enter but ever so lightly on little cats feet. Malt is singing a sonorous tone with hops playing a light accompaniment. Very consistent flavors throughout finishing cleanly in the aftertaste.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

This one is deceptively simple proving you don't need a lot of ingredients to make a complex, flavorful brew. That is to say you don't if you know what you're doing and the folks at Wilderness Brewing clearly do because this is one of the best non European Pilsners I've ever tasted.
