It must have just cleared out half an hour after I left. It will be interesting to see how this much beer does over the rest of the day.

Yeah it went right b4 I got here. Oh well drinking it now and got some of the others. Very chill today. No line taproom is low key

Idaho 7 has a very "throwback OH" taste. The body is sweet and frothy with a very green taste to it.

Edit: I'll buy subtle berry notes with a tea like finish. Seems fairly accurate.

4th anniversary has developed nicely. Other half really gets all the strong flavors from enigma hops and then they develop real nicely. Gotta say the 8.5%-10% beers are deterring me from keeping a fridge full. I'm getting old

I get that, but it's too bad because 8.5% and up is what they do best!

Agree with @RobNewton here, Idaho definitely has overripe berries up front and a nice dry bitterness on the finish. I actually really like it, wish I had more fridge room for more. Reminds me of the days before lactose took over the world, and IMO much better than the veggie, cheese and tuber lines from OH.

Sampled the Mosaic Daydream when I stopped down, and this fits right in there @dhaakon with what you sound like you need. It's 6%, and has a ton of flavor (and not over lactofied).

SD&W tastes just like I recall. Just don't see how most of their other stouts are so bad when they can do such a nice job on this one. Not too bitter from the coffee, hint of vanilla, and the dry cocoa powder on the finish. Lot of restraint that forms a great, easy drinking adjunct stout.

A lot of the geezers in this thread use the term sarcastically, trying to be funny and pretentious, but I'm not sure if they realize that Hazeboiz is a real group of people. And yes, they are at Equilibrium every Saturday pouring beers on the ground and kicking cans around...unless there is a HV release.

Simultaneously calling out people that use the term hazeboiz, and the hazeboiz® themselves - well done (edit - [sarcastic emoji] in case unclear)

I can’t remember if the term was coined (in a derogatory sense) and then those guys ran with it, or if it was the other way round - but regardless they happened around the same time we’re all aware that it’s a “real thing”

Is this a jab at the people in this thread or the hazeboiz themselves (the actual group of DBs who call themselves that)? Honestly can't tell. While I don't normally comment on the hazeboiz, I do know they have their own social media handles and are a click of actual humans. I've also seen said hazeboiz at Equilibrium several times, and they are by far the biggest douchebags there. Here's a good example, , I was off to the right out of sight and witness to this. The guy was so drunk and it was just around 11am. Ironically earlier before that shot he had a spread of Magnify cans out trying to trade for Treehouse.

Sorry bro, most of the people here are just calling a spade a spade.

Never been to Equilibrium but shotgunning beers in front of a place of business seems like a pretty dumb thing to do.

Also I don't know what's more pathetic: his attempt at shotgunning a beer or the fact he's trying to trade Magnify for Treehouse

Both. People trying their hardest to come across as seasoned old money, and the epitome of new money douchiness are both annoying and neither are an accurate representation of the beer community in my opinion. Just unfortunate byproducts.

Not sure if shotgunning beers is cool but Equilibrium has an area set up by the brewery for a line share so they're cool with drinking at the very least.

What’s the “correct” way of BA’ing? Having an understated contempt for both groups and just generally keeping it real?

I think it's their BA stouts that go left almost every time. I avoided Smokescreens after some super smoky beers turned me off the mere description, but tried it on a lark once and it's also solid. What really surprised me was Astro Travellin', which a friend shared with me Friday- also super tasty with really well balanced nuttiness and none of that overwhelming coconut that some beers get. If anything just a tad sweet.

Also just thinking how hilarious it would be if the Hazeboiz crashed the get together being planned here. I'm imagining something like the competitive dancing at the gym in West Side Story.

lol this is the most ridiculous discussion. wtf is old money and new money on a beer forum? beer has always attracted douchiness and craft attracts pretention, there are bound to be extremes when its as popular as it is.

I can demonstrate that at least four generations of my family have exclusively consumed good beer - puts me firmly in the old money camp

While I agree with the guy’s sentiment about there being some pretentious pricks out there (inc yours truly), I think when it comes to hazeboiz you’re either with them or against. There can be no middle ground
