I have a few hours to drag my buddies to a couple breweries and I want to make this both easy and delicious. They're into it, but I think they'll be more so if we can minimize parking issues, etc and maximize tossing back suds. Which places would NYC folk recommend?

Otherhalf+folksbier or interboro+the well or greenpoint beerale+Brooklyn brewery.

I would vote for interboro to kings county brewers collective, with a stop at the Pizza place Robertas in between (or before, or after, or all three. Its delicious). Also LIC is close to Fifth Hammer brewing which has an awesome space, and solid beer.

My rec would be Other Half, Folksbier, and then finish at Threes. OH makes the best IPAs in the city IMO, Folksbier does a lot of different styles very well and Threes is a great space with good food and beer. Can't really go wrong with any of the other places mentioned either.

My problem with folksbier is their pricepoint is not super conducive to "maximize tossing back suds" and at least when I was there a while ago, I felt their taplist didn't have tons of option. Their beer is really tasty though. In all fairness I cant remember exactly what their costs were, I just remember walking out feeling that I had over paid for too little beer.

That's fair, I haven't been there in awhile so I don't really remember what the pricing was like either. Interboro/KCBC/Robertas is a great option, but I find most of KCBC's offerings a bit lackluster (though every sour beer I've had from them has been fantastic). I don't have a car so not sure which of the options mentioned is best for parking.

I would honestly recommend Threes. Usually a good taplist, food is great, coffee upstairs. If you like, you're a short walk to Mission Dolores. If you're coming from the BQE, OH is right at the entrance.

Me and a couple of my buddies did Other Half, had a few beers left with a few 4-packs, went to Mission Delores for a few pints (Industrial Arts, Grimm, Suarez Bros, etc on tap) and then finished off at Threes which had an amazing list of stouts on tap (Multiple Bourbon County and Speedway variants) and plenty of ales/lagers (their house stuff and they had 2 Suarez Bros taps too) and a bottle shop up front (left with a day old 4-pack of SFY) that had a lot of solid local cans. Big space there.

Started about noonish on a Saturday and was on a train back to where I live by 5:30 but ymmv. Great fucking day.

A walk starting at Folksbier with stops at Other Half and Strong Rope, ending at Threes for lunch or dinner sounds perfect.

(F Train start to R Train finish)

I would also add that parking is usually not that big of a deal at any of these places, with the one caveat that you may have to walk a few blocks if you hit up OH on a major release day.

Strongly recommend Other Half / Folksbier / Threes, and I'd even add Gold Star Beer Counter or Covenhoven to that trek depending on your appetite.

Gold Star and Covenhoven for the win!

I wish I liked SR more. I went a few times starting when it first opened, but probably haven't been in about a year and a half - have things changed recently?

Another "no love for'..." but why doesn't anyone mention Five Boroughs? I've only been once, in the fall, and I thought it was pretty good, and a nice tap room, and really close to Other Half. Just wondering.

Is it not bizarre to anyone else that people are talking about parking options while hitting up at least 3 breweries/bars that serve very high ABV beers?? while your goal is to “maximize tossing back suds”??

Maybe the parking question is so you can leave your car there for the day and pick it up later, but if not please let me know what day this is planned for as I live a couple blocks from Mission Dolores and will make sure I’m not crossing 4th ave that day

Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone. @joehill I promise that we'll have a DD (or someone designated to go easy).

Threes is good and always has cans to go from various other breweries around the city (Finback, KCBC, Barrier, Interboro, Grimm (at times) plus their own beers that are canned and bottles)
