Strike two. If you've got another, you'd better make it a good one.

Agreed. The fact that they even bother to make lagers makes me happy.

Yeah . . . this is definitely not a problem. Even with the popularity of IPAs.

In response to the “kids don’t belong in bars/breweries,” I would say that as long as they are well-behaved and their parents understand that they are parents first, they don’t bother me at all. I would actually much prefer a few well-behaved kids to a few loud and obnoxious drunks.

Having said that, one thing that drives me crazy is kids sitting at the bar. Any time I have the kids with me, we are sitting at a booth or table. There’s no excuse in a crowded establishment for a child to be taking up a coveted seat at the bar.

I suppose that's why this is the "Controversial Beer Opinions" thread and not "State Your Opinion and Have Someone Tell You Why it's Wrong" thread. Although there seems to be a lot of that going on in here anyway.

How about once a year? We'll call it the "Beer Advocate Purge."

But then no insults or complaining allowed the rest of the year.

I noticed you left out the fact that he thought double dry hopped Fort Point was the best New England style IPA/pale ale ever. Never tried it, or don't agree?

    This was awesome.

    Here's a few more:

    1) People who say "drink what you like" as a response. Why not just say nothing? Healthy debate is ok. Insults, maybe not, but we can at least try to have a civil debate.

    2) People who don't read an entire thread before responding and repeat something that's been said (oftentimes more than once). I'm guilty of this from time to time.

You do understand, however, that there are people who like phenolic beers, though, right?

It's pretty much built into the Internet and the topic....

I'd agree that if stored well, this shouldn't be an issue, but I'd certainly rather buy beer that hasn't "expired" yet. I'm sure you would as well.

I love seeing people comment on how a beer is made to a beertender, not realizing that the beertender is actually the brewer too and seeing that moment where they realize they're in way over their head.

Not everyone has to like every beer, and life is too short to care about what others drink.

I wish some of the major craft brands that have large distribution would offer more of a variety of beers in their portfolios, kind of like when I got into craft beers over a decade ago. I also understand they have to make what sells.

Beer has two big problems that no one wants to talk about, and none of them have to do with how hazy IPAs ought to be.

    1. Alcohol abuse. Alcohol is bad for you and we all consume too much of it.

    2. Diversity. The beer scene is dominated by white dudes, and while most of us aren't actively hostile to other groups that might want to participate, very few people actually recognize this as a problem, much less give enough of a shit about it to actively try to be more inclusive.

Have you had Melcher Street? Some of their IPAs are fairly better for the NE-style.

Yes, I like them too, I'm just hoping for different descriptive terms than putting down a pint of leathery horse blankets.

I know, right? Let's complain about how IPAs are defined instead.
