This is pretty much exactly my stance. Full disclosure is I have an (almost) 2 year old, but I felt exactly the same way before I had a kid. And I totally agree about kids and bar seats - complete no no.

And to add to your post, I’d say parents need to use common sense when it comes to where they should/shouldn’t take their kids - while there are exceptions, my rules of thumb are:

    1. Don’t take kids into bars that don’t serve food. Which pretty much equates to don’t bring kids to bars, full stop, cos where I’m from a more family friendly bar that serves food is called a pub.

    2. Take the kids out of there by 6-7pm.

    3. If your kid isn’t behaving, leave. While there are places that are kid-friendly, they still shouldn’t be a nuisance to everyone else. I’m hyper aware of this cos it used to piss me off in my pre-parenting days

    4. When it comes to breweries, make a judgement call. Some clearly cater to families and some don’t. Locally to me I would rarely bring my kid into Other Half unless it was to pick up cans/a growler. But somewhere like Folksbier I think it’s a bit more acceptable as long as it’s quiet and during the day

Barrel aged everything. Not everything needs a barrel aged version. Especially with rum barrels. They’re strong and can ruin the mother beer.

    2 - I agree with

1 - it’s not that I disagree. But alcoholism is a human problem. I don’t think we need special discussion around it on BA. There’s not some facet of alcoholism that is specific to craft beer

Indeed. We all need to do things to love our livers.

That's because it's not a problem. If nobody's being actively ostracized, how is that problematic? Different things have different demographics that like them. Big fucking deal.

Had almost all of them, same tasting milkshake bleh. Where is the bitterness? And then call it a double ipa? No thanks.

Never said that I believed that. Just that it was controversial. It's actually a more complex discussion than just superficially being sexist.

OK. We clearly have very different palates and preferences, especially if you're regularly choosing Harpoon over Trillium.

If you're referencing me saying I wouldn't like that Stone beer, and to sue me, it was meant to be tongue in cheek, referring to Stone's current lawsuit with MillerCoors.

I couldn't tell though, because you quoted my entire post. Regardless, I agree with you.

Luckily if I just drink enough I don't have to care about either point. At least until the morning.

Totally agree on the buying in date. I am saying when people have let them sit and they ask if it is still good. Just drink it!

Yup. Tried the Harpoon flannel friday? Way awesome. Last year I had interrobang, an 18% cold brew espresso stout, a top 10 ten beer for me from Harpoon. At the Harpoon beer hall they also have 2-5 test brews only available there, sort of works in progress for some of them. Jacks Abby, Night Shift, Ipswich and Sierra Nevada all see regular rotation in my fridge. I may sit at the Trillium beer garden and do some flights when it gets warmer. Maybe.

Masking it as a "hobby" is not specific to craft, but pretty unique.

Interrobang was awesome. I probably like Harpoon a bit more than your typical beer snob as well and am a big Ipswich and JA fan. Trill too though, that's where we part ways.
