Canton has a parking lot, Boston doesn't. If you're getting like five cases, at Canton they'll put it on a hand truck and bring it to your car. In Boston, you have to somehow carry it some unpredictable distance back to wherever you managed to illegally park your car.

Cut us some slack. We haven't had a good argument about where and how to park at Fort Point in months.

Like others have said it's a lot easier to get cases and load them into your car in Canton. You could park in FP and leave your beers in yoiur car I suppose. Same beer limits apply at both places.

If you hit up FP I would hit up the FP market next door. Great beer selection.

I've hit Fort Point a ton of times in a car including the Saturday for open of the last 3 EBF weekends. Never had a big issue finding parking. Never had to walk to far with my case or so of cans either.

So anyone that has flown with cans...how many cans can you fit in a reasonably sized piece of luggage? If anyone has specific suitcases they've used successfully, feel free to link them

It might be worth posting the question in the Beer Trading Forum because those nuts probably have all this stuff down to a science

In Burlington...check out Pizzeria Verita for dinner...Nothing like a cold fresh can of Heady and one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had.

Go to Fort Point. It's fine. You'll be fine. Everything is fine.

The ONLY reason to consider Canton instead is if you want to try something on tap. There are a lot of beers on the current tap list that you won’t be able to purchase in cans/bottles.

I’ve crammed 16 cans into my one bag (with all my clothes, etc.). If you’re bringing a separate bag just for beer you could fit much more, just be careful about individual airline weight restrictions.

    Great idea, thanks.

I never fly South West, but, I might on the way home because of the 2 free checked bags because I plan on bringing a few cases home with me. I wonder how many cans it takes to hit the 50lb limit.

Based strictly on the liquid. A case of 16oz cans would be about 24 pounds (Google told me this). Seems like a case of beer per suitcase would work. Would be much cheaper than shipping back to yourself.

Ah yes, the old adage "a pints a pound the world around"

Yeah I think that's the plan, woohoo!

I've gotten approximately 30-32 of 16 oz cans in a large suitcase and been right on the 50 lb limit for SW, all bubble wrapped well too. Done the Boston/Vermont trip a few times, you'll have a blast. Enjoy!

He's right, I was wrong. There is absolutely no reason to ever go to Canton.

Fort Point is usually fine. You can carry the beer. Or do whatever. Canton's taproom list is usually pretty effing crazy with different options (that you aren't getting if you combined all the beer bars in the Seaport) & isn't all that far off your route. That's all I'm saying. But do whatever.

Welcome to the New England Forums. You ask for vacation recommendations and the thread devolves into people arguing about parking in Boston and how much beer a suitcase can fit....

I think the parking (& even moreso traffic) advice is warranted. Folks from out of town look at a map & think they can hit every popular brewery/location in New England within a few hours on a Friday afternoon, so the practical advice is helpful & necessary.

My advice would be to pick a “beery” area with other attractions too - Boston, Portland, Burlington or Waterbury VT (forget Treehouse) & hit local bars & breweries. Enjoy your trip & dont FOMO too much.

I've flown with full cases (16oz cans) a few times without using a suitcase and haven't encountered any issues. They key is to get two of the cardboard boxes that cases of beer are typically given to you in, and breweries are typically cool with giving out a second box. Basically you take the second box and flip it over to fit on top of the cans already in the case...or said another way you make a box with the two. From there use some duct tape to seal it up going in a few different directions with the tape. I always leave the plastic can holders in place on the beer and sometimes will slip small pieces of cardboard/rolled newspaper in-between the cans however this step isn't really necessary.

Going to be staying downtown Boston in May for a work conference. Was thinking of taking the train to trillium so I can try some of the drafts and get a few cans. Was wondering how easy of a trip it is. Any any tips. Thanks
