So many beers go with so many foods, sometimes I think it's silly to even suggest a pairing. Sometimes I see a food/beer pairing recommendation on a menu and scratch my head. Except for the obvious (you don't want an imperial stout with a light fish dish), the options are almost limitless to what you enjoy in both categories.

I’ve actually had that stateside and in your country. Initially I was going to write Pils, pales, and bitters or milds but like I’ve already been doing in responding to these past few posts, I didn’t want to sound contradictory to what I initially stated. If I were to rebut myself, I would say that simpler, traditional, classic German and British beers pair well with some or most foods, especially from their given regions. When I see beer dinner/pairing menus stateside, I always see highly hopped, pastry, adjunct, imperial, and overall extreme Beers (which is a lot of what’s being brewed here nowadays) being paired with food. Too much competition.

Depends on the definition of “go with”. I think a key word that Marquis mentioned in his recommendation for curry and mild is “enhance”. I guess I should have stated that, at least for me, rarely do beer and food enhance each other.

Granted, certain combos are matches made in heaven.

They don't have flights at their summer beer garden. Unless you're talking about somewhere else.

They just brewed their DDH Fort Point. Probably a top three beer from them for me. Might be my favorite, with only DDH Congress Street surpassing it. But I'd have to think about it more, I'm sure there's one or two I'm forgetting.

Aren't Alchemist, HF, and Russian River three of the highest rated breweries on this website?

I don't think one can ever say a brewery is ever the "best in the world" unless they're EXTREMELY well traveled. I bet if Hill Farmstead could make it overseas, and it had 6 months age on it (after sitting in a warm warehouse), the European Beer Advocate that received it might disagree with your sentiment.

Beer needs to be consumed at the source to truly determine how good a brewery's beer is.

Otherwise, I liked a lot of other points you made in your post.

I wish beer was more expensive, particularly beers I really like.

Less competition from you penny-pinchers (my avatar suddenly feels relevant).

If 'controversial' is equivalent to 'instant horror and revulsion,' you win.

Heh, I'm pretty sure I've expressed my displeasure that sours are taking up slots on the release schedule. At least they're bringing back the good Anni Ale this year alongside the blackberry one.

I’m assuming this is sarcasm, but just in case, we penny pinchers stick with Sierra Nevada for the most part. Or “grocery store craft”.

I thought this was a safe space for controversial opinions!

Truth is, it's hard to get sought after beers; I have no kids or plans for kids so I can 'spoil' myself. So if these beers are really pricey I have a better chance at buying them!

I'm not an Audi-driving American Psycho, just a guy who doesn't mind paying up for premium beer.

Some of you are not trying very hard to be controversial !

I do not like beers w fruit, most Belgians, Wild Ales or hazy IPA's

A smoked porter would work, too, if that helps .

Point taken. I’m in the same position as you and I do lay out good money for good beer as well. I maintain my controversial position that paying a premium for beer, it had better be a good beer.

Knock yourself out. I look right past stuff like that while I'm on the quest for ever better beer-flavored beer.
