I can get pretty excited about lagers. For instance, this month is doppelbock month at Hofbrauhaus. That's exciting to me.

As much as I love BA stouts sours and IPAs it still bothers me how little shelf space goes to other styles. at least for now we still have enough options in most styles to keep mixing it up.

I like the onion notes that mosaic sometimes gives.

I do love Dopplebock, but it's rare for any lager to blow me away. It happens, but honestly a lot of lager styles are all about subtlety. I can really enjoy lagers, but I personally get much more excited over the bigger bolder beer styles. I still really enjoy a well made Pilsner, zwickel lager, or maibock.

Homebrewing is more enjoyable than whale chasing/trading any day ever. Pride is a tasty additive that makes my beer better than Hills Farmstead to me.

I'm going back under the bridge now

Jackie O's Antik Porter is not all that great of a beer unfortunately.

Isn't it usually the opposite? The hype is related to the fact that the brewery is in the middle of nowhere, and the beers are difficult to obtain because they don't distribute?

Tree House, Hill Farmstead, The Alchemist...etc.

I'm not sure if @rozzom was responding directly to @SoCalBeerIdiot, but if not, it made me laugh that these two posts were in order.

Regarding kids and dogs at breweries...

I don't have too much of a problem with either, mainly because I haven't had TOO much of an issue with either at breweries. But unfortunately I would say the solution is to not allow either. There are definitely great parents and dog owners who know their boundaries, but there are likely far more bad parents and owners who don't give a shit. I've heard of a few breweries who have stopped allowing dogs.

The one time that I did have an issue is when a local brewery allowed a KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY at the brewery. It was crowded and kids were running around everywhere. And many of the tables (in a small space too) were taken up by food and gifts.

I'm going to go to a Chuck E Cheese, get hammered, and throw up in the ball pit.

Anheuser-Busch is at the top of their advertising game when they use dogs and horses in their commercials. They should stick with that formula. The Bud Light "Dilly Dilly" and "Bud Light Party" campaigns produced some of the most mind-numbingly stupid commercials in advertising history, targeting only the half-wits and morons who already drink this stagnant ditch water.

    • The thought that no one should travel from one major city to another in order to obtain 'hard to get' or 'top of the line' beer. Stay local? No way.. I bought a car for a reason!
    • Some people are not understanding the concept of 'session beer'. You can tell by the ratings.
    • I drink what I want and what I like.. end of conversation. Stop

This is nothing new.. Having been fully ensconced in the wine and beer culture going back some good time, I've witnessed these plaints first hand. Money was all over the place in the late 90s. People bought and laid in a great number of cultish and highly collectible wines. I have seen the ruination of great California Chardonnay, Zins, and others because of hoarding....Enjoy the beer and wine as it is meant to be enjoyed. I keep some old stuff, but collecting can be a great way to destroy beer and wine mindlessly.

Cans are better than bottles if not poured into a glass, I get a metallic taste from bottles.

Local does not always mean better.

NEIPAs when done right are fucking incredible.

CBS was the biggest ripoff in beer history

    Two more:

Wine barrels, whether red or white, are the best barrels to age beers in, especially wild ales and saisons.

You shouldn't age 99% of beers longer than 2 years.

Feel the same way (sometimes) about hops that smell like marijuana. And I say that as someone that, no lie, has never used the stuff.

I've never actually genuinely liked any IPA.

I'll drink a gifted Heady, gifted TH...bought a Super Session 8 on recommendation and finished it, but I never seek them out.
