    Hey everyone,

So I've been thinking about this idea for some time and haven't really heard about a bottle share being done in Boston. I think it'd be cool to meet up once a month, or maybe more often, meet at a bar/event space(?) and share some cool bottles we've found, traded for, or have been holding on to for awhile and maybe a bottle share is the best excuse to break it out!

That brings me to my next point of....is there one already started OR is it even possible to host one somewhere given Boston's insanely terrible alcohol laws?

Let me know if anyone's into the idea/has one started/or knows something as fun as this couldn't be possible.

    Thanks!

It's been mentioned a bunch of times before and nothing really ever came to it. I wouldn't mind joining in if something did get going, time and SWMBO permitting...

Sounds like a fun idea. Monthly may be too frequent for me. It would be interesting to meet some folks on here and see how their true personalities match up to their BA persona

I've definitely see shares pop up around the area, but mostly at people's houses in suburbs near the T.

Laws are prohibitive, and I've seen a ton of ideas proposed only to be difficult to execute. Event halls, hotel rooms, etc, are all expensive. I wonder if public space is the way to go, like Castle Island in southie, the public commons, etc? I know laws aren't allowing, but I wonder if cops would enforce a few people hanging out and enjoying some non-descript drinks?

BYOB places are ideal for tastings/bottle shares. There are two that I’m aware of just outside Boston proper.

    Dok Bua Thai Kitchen
    Super Fusion Brookline

I have a large roof deck in fort point right next to trillium. 319 A st. There is a huge open parking lot for $5 where GE is building their HQ. I could host on the roof deck...... just a thought (and people could pick up cans at fort point market/trillium or get fresh growlers)

Damn! This is an awesome idea. I actually walk by that building a lot, such a great location! I'd be down for that

That’s funny because I look like Patrick Bateman and I love Huey Lewis. Also people used to call me Patrick Bateman. My business cards are in bone.

    Wait is that funny?

I invited BA to a bottle share at my place last spring and the spring before, even smoked a couple rack of ribs. There was some interest, but when it came time nobody ended up showing.

Long story short I ended up feasting and drinking beer with a few people that I regularly feast and drink beer with.

I have a running share with a few friends (ranging from 4-7 of us) every 2-3 weeks or so (sometimes more often, sometimes less given our schedules). We're always looking to expand the group.

I'd be down for a Boston-area share! My cellar needs cleaning out...

If I had enough of a heads up, I could make the trip into the city. Plenty of big bottles that I’ve been waiting to open
