Which is the best order for not destroying taste buds—. ipa followed by a warehouse beer? Or other way around?

I just bounce around to whatever grabs my eye next. Drink some water to help reset the palate, and it's good to go.

I’m a light to dark guy, unless a sour is involved, then I may skip the whole thing!

With the caveat to not drink the same style consecutively.

Taste buds be da*ned, I'm not interested in getting destroyed, especially on a weeknight! Lowest ABV to higher/highest ABV.

Unsure what you mean by "warehouse beer", but my overarching rule is to go from less hoppy to more hoppy. A common strategy is also to go from lighter to darker. However, I find that darkness doesn't have a particularly fatiguing effect on my palate whereas hoppiness absolutely does.

I grab whichever feels right. When taking one beer don't plan what the next will be. Or if there will be one (often there will be though )

All of the above/my tasting line up/4 beers: pale, Ipa, Stout, sour or farmhouse. Why? The ipa follows naturally a milder pale, the stout “scrubs/resets” the tongue and now I’m ready for wild/sour/whatever. Find what works for you. Cheers!

Hops go last. Citra especially destroys my palate.

generally speaking, you should go from lowest IBUs to highest IBUs

in reality, it depends. yesterday i started with 2 dIPAs and then went to pale ales. other days i might be the opposite

Usually I'm the opposite. I'll have an A, then I-P.

Usually if I'm having more than one, I'll do a mix of lower ABV to higher and light to dark. I don't like following a roasty ale with a more floral one, or having a booze bomb before something lighter.

I have tried the light-to-dark approach and the low-to-high abv approach, but currently, I advocate for the low-to-high bitterness approach.

Also, I usually have something to eat or drink in-between different types of beers - or any beers actually, given some tasty snacks...

If I'm planning on a few beers back-to-back (especially of different styles), with no real "breaks" (for food or water or naps (lol)) in-between, I'd advise going from least to most hoppy (which often translates to stouts before IPAs) just because the bitterness will desensitize your palate.

I usually start out with something maltier and/or darker (barley wine, stout) and follow it up with an IPA or DIPA. The hops in the IPA seem to pop a little more to me if i have one after a malty/dark beer.

OP - got it? Dark to light, low to high ABV, low to high IBU, all one style, switch styles. Follow that and you're golden! Simple answer, take any four beers you like, mix, and slam.

What I do on a night that i wish to have more than 1 beer is different than what I would do if I am simply consuming multiple beers in a particular setting.

If I am drinking for pleasure, I almost never consume hops in the same evening as stouts. They just do not jive for me.

If I am at my father's, I may be mixing. I don't have s choice on the order, but hops (especially high IBUs) really just fuck my palate. So, if I had a choice, I'd do those last.

I'd certainly never do Hops first for a tasting - it would particular destroy my ability to enjoy anything that I really wanted to enjoy that was not a hop.

I have a bitter sensitivity, so I am perhaps more susceptible to this than others.
