Proclamation has banned dogs. I guess they feel it's gotten out of hand. I wonder if others will follow suit. I like dogs but honestly felt lukewarm about allowing dogs. Too many dogs at once can create problems - fighting, health reasons and some people just don't like to be around a lot of dogs.

    Very interesting.

I love dogs and I love this idea. I wish Trillium would follow in their footsteps. Sometimes on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon Canton is already way too crowded with people. Dogs make it even more of a hassle to maneuver through the sea of humans. Often times I will have to watch my step as to not trip over a leash or step on a dog.

That's too bad. I had my dog in there a few weeks ago. Only dog in the place at that time. I've never seen a ton of dogs there at once any time I've gone. I also don't go during peak hours. I like having a spot to go with my dog but certainly see where too many could become an issue.

Canton on the weekend is a disaster which I why I avoid if at all possible. What fun is there when it's super crowded, dogs everywhere and a 30 min wait for pours.

no fun at all...but unfortunately for some people the weekend is the only opportunity to stop by Canton... which is why it is crowded...so they definitely need another location where you can only get in if you have a dog.

Trillium is really missing out on a business opportunity-They should build a dog park for doggy day care and a day care room for all the young children.

Like Canton, Proclamation is all hard surfaces - concrete floor, cmu walls, exposed deck, etc. There's nothing to absorb sound, so even the noise of a couple dogs gets amplified. I get it. As a fan of dogs, it's disappointing, but I get it.

I assume they'll end up where Night Shift did, where the "patio" is dogs welcome in warmer weather.

I feel places need to go by what's going on day to day. On the flip though. Some people bring their dogs and just drink for hours. I feel that's kinda cruel. But forget the dog issue. I hate people who bring their kids with them near breweries.

That's tough though because you don't know what's going on that day until you're already open. Personally I'd much rather a place pick a rule. It makes it easier for people with dogs (or without who choose not be around them) to plan ahead.

I'm fine with kids at breweries but I mostly go at times where I see bringing kids as appropriate, so I deal with it. I have been to a few breweries at night where people having thier kids there seemed super irresponsible.

For me it's a matter of context. Same with dogs and how well behaved they actually are vs what the owner wants to believe. I have seen some very undertrained dogs in places as well .

Get over it. I've been drinking in breweries long before I had kids and now that I do, I happily roll in to places that allow children with the same frequency as before.

If you really "hate" people who bring their kids to breweries, it's 100% a -you- problem.

To be clear, all of this is stated by a parent who keeps his kids in check and doesn't let them
intrude on others good times, the parents that don't and let their kids run wild *suck* but if the mere presence of kids is ruining your brewery time, sorry pal, to-go beer is ---> that way

It's interesting that so many brewery taprooms are so amenable to allowing dogs inside. I'm trying to think of any other business where the sight of dogs ambling about wouldn't seem a bit unexpected and I'm coming up blank.

(For the record, I don't have any dogs or any kids, but I'm pro-dog and pro-kid in taprooms, assuming they behave themselves. I try to behave myself as well. Excelsior.)

That allow dogs? Home Depots, Bass Pro, Some book stores, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Tractor Supply Co, Some Old Navy stores...There are more. I took my dog every place I could find that would allow when I got her as a puppy. Helps with how dogs respond, act, and react to expose them to as many sights, smells, sounds, and textures as possible.

Edit: Sorry went all dog advocate there. Beer is good.

It is funny how Trillium has become the brewery for suburban dads.

Huh. I rarely see dogs in other business establishments, which is unfortunate as I like seeing them and giving them a nod of solidarity. At taprooms I'm more surprised when I don't see any.

I was just talking about this with my co-worker. We both have a dogs, but we're self aware enough to know what is and isn't a good environment for them. Not all dog owners are as aware of their surroundings, let alone how it affects their dogs. It's nice to be able to bring a dog to a brewery, but there are plenty of times that I wouldn't do it. I don't see why breweries don't limit when people can bring dogs based on when they're busy. By that, I mean a hard line on a certain day, not 50-50 on a day (allowed during these hours, but not those).

I agree , and I do the same with my kids-I never bring them to a brewery or restaurant during peak hours-it is isn't good for them, me, or any of the other patrons.

Yes, I think the problem lies with the quantity of dogs at certain times. At a place like Trillium, I don't think there are ever any issues when there are 2 or 3 dogs there at one time. It's when it creeps up to double digits when problems arise. At that point, odds are things will get loud from time to time and those that generally avoid dogs will have a problem.

Fortunately for me, I never go there on weekends (I go during work lunchbreaks) but I've heard the horror stories.

I really don't think so. I consider what's the kid got to do. Nothing. Just sit there. It's a pointless thing in my opinion.

    also simmer down.

There were quite a few dogs at Trillium this afternoon. It was fine because there weren't that many people there. If those dogs were there on a weekend with a packed crowd of adults, an assortment of kids, perhaps maybe even more dogs, I can't see that being a good time for the dogs.

At that time, however, it was fine. I don't think there's a hard stance that breweries need to take. Trillium does some nice stuff for adopting dogs and clearly doesn't want to ban dogs. I think that they can find a nice compromise. Maybe it will be easier to take a stance once the patio is finished.
