My understanding was that other breweries could use Stranny barrels, but just can't use the name on their labels.

    Yes? No?

That's correct, but they also became a lot less available after the purchase by Proximo.

I had to try another bottle. Yep. It tasted even better second time around.

Bull Proof and Triple bbl. Baptist are both incredible. They each reminded me of a barrel aged chocolate cake. So rich and tasty. The baptist has so much vanilla and caramel and never seemed boozy. Love rum barrel beers when done right. Bull Proof had a little more bbl. character, but by no means was it "hot." Really enjoyable brews that pair perfectly with a little snow and cold weather :sunglasses:

Bull Proof wasn’t really hawt at all... strong chocolate for sure, but a nice balance of all the things I want in a BA stout. Got 2 bottles for $15 which was fine by me.

Definitely not a candidate for aging IMO. These are too good right meow!

Certainly not Beanie Baby status due to their ubiquity, but all the BA beers I’ve had from Odell in the last year or so have been great! (better than most of the beanie babies to be quite honest.)

I liked all 2018 versions of Ursurla 180 Gram. The coffee variant was my favorite

I wanted to expand a bit since I had them all again last night.
The BA 180 Gram has some good viscocity and full barrel flavor, I personally didn't find it hot, very drinkable right now.
The Aztec aged in tequila barrels has some good cinnamon flavor. I think it's the right balance, but those sensitive to it may not dig it. Same with the tequila aging, I love and drink tequila regularly, so I only sensed a vague barrel presence, but if some doesn't like or is sensitive to it, it may not work for you.
My favorite of the trio was the Cafe. Full, rich, sweet coffee, going along with the recent trend.
$10 for the 375ml bottles, which rides the line for me as far as classifying them as high-priced. I don't know that I would pay much more, but I liked them all enough at this price to grab 2 of each

Bull & Bush CBC5 is in the wild now. It's a BA Treacle Porter. I think it's a little green at the moment, but that seems to be par for the course with many of their bottles. Give it a month and it should be pretty rockin' stuff.

Finally an Odell beer I actually like. Bull Proof is indeed pretty great, thick, rich and full of bourbon barrel goodness.

Tried the Vanilla Oil Man over the weekend. Eh. Which is what I think of Oil Man in general. I'm still tempted to try the Cinnamon though. Overall not a terrible value for a 750mL, but I still struggle convincing myself to buy it, but I usually do once a year, and think the same thing every year.

Bull and Bush CBC 5. I was disappointed. I found it lacking in any of its descriptors. Though it's a porter, I was hoping the 10 abv would make up for its nonstoutness. This was a miss for me.

I'm still onboard with Cerebral BA Work From Home. I'm critical of their bottle pricing, but this one I'll still pop for.

I generally agree regarding oil man. However, I would recommend the coffee version. Not a ton of barrel character, but it's one of the better local coffee stouts IMO.

I've just genuinely never cared for their stuff. Lugene is good for what it is, but we haven't bought it since its second year out, I thought the BA version was only alright. The rum aged Pirate something or another wasn't too bad.
It didn't help that the one time we went to the tap room, they had no idea how to run a beer line. If you wanted a beer, we had to wait in line behind people casually browsing merchandise while the beer pourers were standing there staring off into space. I do tend to lump crap service in with my beer/brewery opinions and that has helped to prompt me to stay away from Odell. But still, taking the beers on their own, we don't find any of their stuff to be worth buying over what our standards are

The BA ones don’t do a ton for me either- aside from Bull Proof. I drink the shit out of their standards and have always had good to great service whenever I visit.

Every time I've been to Odell it's pretty seemless. You wait a little longer initially but then the beers come out fast. They have a couple "order takers" and a couple "beer pourers". Honestly it's a good system when the employees are on top of things. Plus, it's probably more hygienic to separate the two tasks.

Pakani from Ursula. Leopold Bros aged chocolate pecan pie stout. Thin on the body, but I love the flavor. Barrel is pretty strong right off. It does have some spicing, guessing some cinnamon/nutmeg-ish. Works for me.
    $18 for the 22oz.

River North has rum-barrel aged Mr. Sandman (single cask) on draft and in bottles now. It's too sweet for me but really smooth. The Mr. Sandman beers have all been excellent.
